Joust Training in Wisconsin- CANCELLED

Post by Lloyd »

Hi All,

Have to reschedule Saturday's clinic - I have a nasty upper respiratory and sinus infection which not only has knocked me on my butt, but has pretty much taken my ability to speak. I will let everyone know when it is rescheduled.

It's good to hear. (Me, I'd have to learn to ride better first)

The stables offers riding lessons as well (and it would be nice to no longer be the only guy there!)/

Trystyn,

Not to speak for Lloyd, but seeing as most of the SCA equestrians (or equestriennes) hereabouts are female, I'm guessing that they're the bulk of who's around. I'll bet Bridei is all over this.

Lloyd, which stables is it?

Bridei is definitely all over it. She and Randy came out last week and helped us with the fundraising faire (with Bridei being invaluable as one of our ground squires).

Here is the info on the stables:

Kuenzi Equestrian Pony Club Riding Centerwww.kecponyclubcenter.blogspot.com
N7928 County Road A
Beaver Dam, WI 53916
(920) 285-0701

And Tryst was basically giving me a good-natured elbow in the ribs (Tryst I can't say much at the moment...)

jousting

Post by Jotun-Arnbaldr »

I live near Chicago. My famliy is all from Chippewa Falls WI, and my other side live on a horse farm in Rockville In. I would be interested in the jousting class or mounted techniques. I can ride, let me know when the dates are and I would be intereseted in coming up. Also I am a man. I 6' 7" 280 pound man. So if you have a warmblood or a belgian or something big enough to ride. I may come up for the class.

That's possible. I have some friends down there that joust and we could probably put something together.

Lufu,

I promise that none of the horses will eat you . Why not come up, give it a look and talk with me, and, if you are comfortable, maybe we can set you up with some riding lessons. Who knows, you may be a born equestrian and just not know it!

Then you can show me the Westland arming coats and maybe work with me on the joust training video I want to put together.

That sounds like something I may be able to agree to! Count me in for myself and my wife (with the kidlettes bouncing around somewhere).

No kidding, really? Thats pretty awesome, and I have a photoshoot scheduled in Beaver Dam for Aug 7th, so we can probably stop by afterward. How much are the riding lessons? Or do they do trail riding? I'm not really suited to jousting, but a day on horseback sounds awesome.

Sorry, got busy with the "joust tournament" last week. I'll shoot you all the info when I get home this evening.

Tell Aaron thanks for looking for the elbows, turns out Bristol still had a bunch of the armour we had when I was the joust director there and I borrowed a set of arms (legs and breastplate) from them.

Ted, sorry, man, starting on Thursday morning pretty much everything went all pear-shaped. We didn't leave to go to Bristol until 5am on Friday. My squire was up until 11pm on Thursday night working on my gear. In the end, it was definitely not what I expected (or better, what was led to expect). Oh well, I got to joust, got to see some old friends and make some great new ones!

A story about the "tourney" can be found HERE

Very cool.

No worries!

We ended up going Saturday with the kiddies to Bristol, good times.

Still very much interested in the joust training for me and the lady - will keep in touch as we get more of an idea if we can make it out!
