I get my horsehair from hitchingpostsupply.com
you cut the hair in 12 to 13 inch strips about 1/4" diameter, zip tie it in the middle, then fold it in half and zip tie it 3/4" from the bottom. then heavily glue it with super glue. you will then sew up the 2 sides to the bottom.(enclosing the front and back.) next you sew the hair tufts to the base peice inside the holder. now you take gorilla glue and fill alittle of the inside with it starting at one side just a couple inches at a time. then sew the top closed.(make sure you dont use to much glue so it doesnt seep out onto visible hair.) just repeat that until the top is completely closed.
Note gorilla glue expands so you dont want the inside to be completely full, just mostly.
The base pattern needs to have large mounting tabs on either side and on the front and back.
if you did it right these hawks with last years and years of constant lots of fighting and look something like
for anyone interested in making mohawks.
