Shopping for gauntlets

Post by I. Stewart »

Hello all,

I am looking into buying a set of fingered gauntlets for SCA combat. I know of some armorers that make them, but not all. The big problem is that I'm on deployment, so my internet use is pretty limited and slow. For that reason, I'm posting my request here and I hope something will come up. I keep an eye on this forum, but most of what comes up are too big for my small hands, and I think I'll need to order custom. I'll be home in December, so that's why I'm looking now.

I haven't completely decided what I'm looking for yet. I'm torn between hourglass and wisby style. I will go with fingers that ground, or not. I am really pretty flexible and undecided.

If someone can point me in the right direction to look, so I'm not wasting time and bandwidth I would really appreciate it. I know this is the right place to look. I thank you all for any help I will recieve.

What price range are you looking at? That will help people narrow down their suggestions.

We have many styles and sizes. The gauntlets start out aqt $169 for a pair of kydex. We also have stainless and aircraft aluminum, in stock and ready to ship.

I give a 10% discount to Military folks as well.

Cheers!

Dunno what your price range is but <a href="http://www.anshelmarms.com/gauntlets.html" target="_blank">Anshelm Arms</a>
makes great gauntlets--I'm in the queue for a set myself.

Of course I am interested. My point in posting here was was that I have limited internet. I have no access to Facebook, and no accoutn besides. If you could post pictures or email them, I would appreciate that.

My wife is not fully on board with this whole thing yet, so I'm just getting ideas for now, but I hope to be placing an order within the next month. I could spend up to about $600 or so, but of course would like to keep it less. Thank you everybody for responding.

I think you can get a pair of hardened stainless mitten gauntlets from Glendour for that.

I'd have to check with him to see if the prices listed are current.

sorry, kinda an idiots point on mypart

Since I dont want to fill the list full of redundant stuff, heres just a few..

The first pic is of my fluted clamshell gauntlets, polished for 325.00, or in matte for 275.00

These second two are of my Milanese Finger mitten Gauntlets in 18 Ga stainless steel with a matte finish. The fingers and thumb all ground out on rattan. The fingers are on leathers, but the thumb and the wrist are both solid+sliding rivets for smooth movement. This week they are on sale for 625.00 with the matte finish, or 690.00 polished.

These are the best two options in that range from me. most of my stuff in spring steel is in the 700-1000.00 range for finger or finger mitten gaunts.

Hope this helps.
