Our own Gryffinclaw will be there. Alas, like His Grace, I too have to slave for mundanity.

It shouldn't be that big a deal but one of us failed to give him enough teeth to be an adult. He was born missing 3 adult teeth. The baby teeth have to removed and they are hoping to be able to get them out with out cracking his lower jaw. The baby teeth have to go though as they are bein grown around and shifting his perm teeth. We were not planning this at this time but his body says otherwise. Any way he's being put under Friday so they can go in and dig them out. If it goes well no broken jaw no wiring no long recovery time. If everything goes the hard way....

At any rate prayers and well wishes are always welcome!

Kid update - all went great. I have 3 baby teeth in a jar and he has 3 newholes in his head. No broken jaw needed! And the sinus cavity that might have been breached was not. We go back in a week to make sure it's all still good. He still has a bunch of risidual stuff that keeps him from feelig bad right now. They say tomorrow he will feel like he was hit in the face with a ball bat. Oh yea! Something to look forward to.... Thanks for the support! Y'all rock. Kick some butt post some results when its over.

Glad to hear it. Hope the mean man with the bat goes away soon.

Also on the kid front, we pulled into our condo about 40 minutes offsite when my 3 year old wakes up from the car seat, announces she has to go to the bathroom and then bazooka barfs all over her and the van. It's 12:30am and I just got her in bed after sanitizing everything including her. I wonder if no sleep will affect my fighting. Let's find out!

And again and again, guess it wasn't car sickness. Everyone enjoy the event. I have to get my little girl home as soon as she can travel. Hopefully the rest of us don't get it. :(

Yikes, sorry about that, Malcolm.

I just got home. Had a great time at the event -- Steve, good talking with you.

My only disappointment was my own performance. Flat-out sucked today, maybe just from being so out of practice. But we're getting into the Fall weather, and I'll be fighting a lot more.

And I wore the hockey gloves for the last time, because the new gauntlets are here! Oooh, they're beautiful ....

It was AWESOME.... certainly a "never miss another one" event. My gratitude to those who envisioned a grand tournament and made it so!

It was great to meet those I had a chance to, and great fun to cross swords with those I did. (Hope you're ok Cisco... cramping sucketh mightily)

rofl

I was thinking the same thing when I remembered about this thread.

And no, one last time, you didn't actually kill me. Promise. :)

But if you take someone out of the tournament you should at least have the decency to win the thing...

My apologies.

My opponents were skilled and honorable, and I hold no regrets, but will bear what you say in mind and shall strive, in earnest, to improve my performance next time, that I may better honor you.

This was a fantastic event. It was my first-ever MGT. The Fall Creek Falls site was fantastic. The weather was perfect. Temperature was in the 80's and mostly overcast.

My friend Michael won the tourney for the Women's Shelter and raised something like $1200 for a shelter in his area to be donated in his name. Man that is serious word fame.

I fought in the Armatura, the Sabre Tourney, and the Bear Pit.

I got a kill in the Armatura when I was lucky enough to team up with my Knight and King, Maximillian, and Lady Laylie. Of course they carried me. I got one kill when just when I thought I was about to die Laylie appeared by my side and while the other guys were trying to kill her I got a shot in. Then we went and saved His Majesty who I believe had been legged when I died. Our team carried the round though.

The Sabre Tourney was fun - single-handed sword only, no shield. It was the first time I got to wear my rattan sword and scabbard made by Templar Bob. The sword has a nice aluminum pommel and cross guard. I died in that single-elim tourney on my first round.

I also won a fight in the Bear Pit tournament.

It is so great to be fighting again. I've been at it for about 3 months now I guess since I quit several years ago. It feels fantastic. It feels great to be able to talk about fighting again while being a doer instead of just a talker. I am not yet of any real account but it feels great to be able to read The Anvil of Virtue and not read in shame the passage that says that speaking of the art of arms is the purview of men who spend time in harness and not clerks or priests. This weekend I felt like a man at arms. My harness begins to sit on me with a comfortable familiarity now. I like the pain that I feel days after the event as each twinge recalls the pride of standing against stout blows.

MGT was a fantastic event. They had hordes of staff running the lists. The food at the party Saturday night was awesome. They had these deviled eggs with salmon in them that were AWESOME. And these sausages! And these bacon-wrapped chicken nugget things. And the Knights of Meridies had an open bar that night. This is two weekends in a row where events had open bars and I must say I mightily approve of the free anesthetics! :)

There were at least 78 fighters in attendance, as I was #78 in the first list.

I saw some absolutely fantastic 14th century kits. Harness in general was at a very high level.

Man I'm stoked for SCA combat!
