I wanna go so bad, but, depending on how my follow up doctors visit goes concerning my knee, I may end up in surgery and not fighting for almost a year.

Greetings!

I will be making the trip down yet again. Sadly, I will be the only An Tirian at the war (again). This just means I'm bringing more arrows...

Duke William, you will be missed this year.

It's too bad Duke William isn't GA King and attending.
He's Norman and King Ulstead is Saxon. Could make for some
fun conversations.

Just let me know if you are going to hide the booze. That way I can stay home and hide under my couch. I don't want to BE there when Ulstead hears there's no booze.

The Doc says that the ACL tendons in both my knees are completely severed. So I won't be able to go needless to say. So....I need one of you to hit a bunch of Ansteorrans really hard-like for me. (Don't hurt 'em too bad, but just enough to let 'em know that we of Gleann Abhann can hit for two!)

Good luck guys, and have fun.

It was a wonderful event. Perfect weather and great fighting. I don't think anyone cared what the score was, we just fought. I was saddened to see fewer Gleann Abhann folk than usual. I definately felt sorry for GA fighting up that ravine. The Champions bouts this year was a great new addition.

For those of you who weren't there some of the things you missed were:
Youth fighting.
Horse melees and jousting.
Rapier scenarios.
Cut and Thrust.
Ravine battles, bridge battles, open field battles, castle battles, Champions bouts, Zombie battles, pickup fights.
Two haflas.
A&S displays.
Wonderful fighting and partying weather.
Archery
12' spears. (With Radu fighting with one. Geez, he was taking out archers!)
Opening Ceremonies on horseback.

And that's just some of the stuff.
Make plans to be there next year if you know what's good for you.

I didn't feel sorry for them. They fought hard and well, upslope or no.

Plus having the Ansteorran rez point eleventy five miles behind the lines even things up a little. I know I was wheezing.

Regarding the Gleann Abhann numbers,we were up 10 or 15 from last year.

We had about 50 heavy fighters in attendance on Saturday which is roughly 1/2 of our standing army at Gulf Wars. (Usual GW numers are in the 100-110 range)

We had a few that missed the event at the last minute, illness or other mundane issues popped up.

The ravine fight was fine, the hill battle that followed it was another matter. :D

Even with our no hike / mobile respawn we couldn't seem to kill enough of you guys at one time to make it up the hill.

Thanks to the St.Marks crew that came over to fight with us.

Also thanks again to Sir Ysfael (I'm sure I mispelled that) for the scenarios, it was nice to have a different take on the usual battles.

See yall at Gulf Wars!

Well, only the ones in the second story arrow slots and on the walkway above the gates. I couldn't QUITE reach the third story ones.

BAM was a lot of fun. It makes me hate even more that I had to miss the last couple. I will be back.

I wanted to thank all of the Gleann Abhann fighters and populace that made the trip over. You all made a great showing and did your Kingdom proud.

Thank you to all of the Ansteorrans who made the trip worthwhile for all of us. Your hospitality and friendship was as impressive as the valor of your warriors.

I'd heard that there were fewer numbers from GA this year than earlier. I do know there were no rapier folk as our swashers where quite upset they didn't have any new friends to poke.

I heartily agree the GA fighters fought well and honorably. But I still didn't envy them that fight up the hill.
But we got karma back by trying to fight in that castle gate.

Tell Sir Ashi that I want a rematch!
Yers,

Duke Gunthar
