Blackened Onion Top Bascinet

Post by Leikr »

All the rest of my armor sold so I figured a single thread for this guy. paid 900 roughly, looking for 750. Shipping is from 63304 and should be about 20 to most places, at least the other helm was about that.

14 gauge mild made by Wild Armoury. Comes with Klap and bar grill visor. Flat round riveted mail drape. Few dents on the top, never learned to block. Red sewn-in padded liner. Made to fit my head, which is these dimensions, yes my head is that big.
a. around head above ears 56.2cm 22.1"
b. middle of forehead to back of skull knob 33cm 13"
c. bridge of nose to top of head 21.5 cm 8.5"
d. bottom chin to bridge of nose 13cm 5.1"

Wish the European guys would make stuff that can endure the SCA thumpage....

I love their work, just anything less then 12g stainless will end up looking like the surface of a mutated golf ball.

Nice finish.

The gauge of the helm is holding it back imho.

that may be it, but unfortunately that is the gauge the armorer uses. Doesn't change the fact I need to sell it.

Just a gentle reminder to folks who are hesitant because of the gauge..

dents come out.

I figured the problem was the head size more than the gage. This thing is pretty though.

Head is a solid 24"...and this hat is almost worth taking a grinder to my scalp, to fit in it.

Honestly I would love to get them knocked out but I don't have the talent nor the funds to put into the project. With an impending layoff in a few months fund for hobbies are just not there.

mild helms should be 12g stainless 14g at a minimum. ( ive actually used 10g mild before for a helm top,) to avoid dents. its not the armorer its the guage of metal used.

being negative over it when there are plenty stateside armorers who have used 14 mild and made dentable helms is kinda unnessessary..

its a beautiful helm and very worth its price..

Don't think it's the helm size or the gauge that's holding it back, You can buy a brand new one from the guy for $600 without Chain and $750 with. It's a Pig Face but I'm sure he would change it out for a shovel or make you one with a shovel.

Sure that is a good deal. The helm does fit very nice, if I was fighting I would certainly be using it. Just to point out mine also has the grill face plate and is already in the US. I am sure there are other great deals out there I just know I paid 900 for mine hence my price. Thanks for looking.
