help with gorgets
I'm working on making a gorget with neck banding. My two problems are I'm not sure how to make the bottem lame as the neck line is not straight but dips a bit in the front. The second is how taught should the leather be that I rivet to for the articulation? should it be tight or rather loose to accomidate movement? I'm makeing one in 22g as a starter and at the same time one in 16g & 18g as what I'm going to be wearing. An help would greatly apericated. I'll have pics up later if I have a chance...

The leathers should be a bit loose, about like a spaudler or a bit less. All the neck-lames should have a shallow S-curve configuration anyway, to sit them upon your neck-to-shoulder anatomy, and not annoy your throat, what with your trapezius muscles joining your neck at about the back of your neck; they are the muscles that shrug your shoulders.
How many lames are we looking at here? Two, or three?
Inside the gorget, light padding, in whatever layout you like. A couple layers of terry toweling work great. This can be attached to the top edge, and lie free and easy all the way down to the edge of the cowl part.
