Atzinger update #Idon'tfuc*ingcareatthispoint

Post by Vitus von Atzinger »

Got all the rattan I need to finish all the weapons I owe people. All the six foot rattan spears are finished and I think I figured out an easier way to pack them. Lotsa weapons are half-finished (as usual).

Now I am working on the Gulf Wars rush orders, but things are not going well. I destroyed Nissan's scabbard by mistake and other disasters keep happening. I'm gonna pull off what I can pull off.

Ouch...
I feel your pain Vitus...
I've gotten projects all the way to near finished and ruined them accidentally more than a few times.
And I live under deadline pressure more often than not.

Take care, man.
Its easy to have a screaming shit attack when things keep going wrong...
And wind up tearing the house apart while under the effect.

Been there, done that and have the repair bills to prove it.

I know what it sounds like- But try to calm down, have a cup of something soothing, and let it all go for an hour or so before going back to what you're working on.

(No, I am not a hippy- I'm probably about as far from one as you can get... But it does help.)

And those shiatsu powered massage pads you put in a chair actually help sometimes.

No worry on anything Christy and I did. Take care of yourself first, don't burn at both ends till you start on fire.

Just keep plugging away. Everything will get finished and the fact that you're communicating means there's not likely to be any hard feelings.

It'll all get done. When you need to take a breath take one.

I've never ordered anything from you. But I've been in the situation where I had a whole pile of stuff I owed people and felt horrible that it hadn't gone out. I know how you feel. But most of this stuff isn't all that important to people so long as you keep communication and keep working to finish and do finish.

You'll feel good when you finish. And it's hard to try and take a breather when you need it because you feel bad about not getting things out. But the breather is important. As important as going to sleep at night. Take the breather when you need to and it'll all get done quicker. Stressing yourself too much is gonna cause more ruined pieces.

Good luck. You're doing good keep it up.

Amen, brother.

That is the easiest trap to fall into when you are making stuff for other people- Getting a little behind because of real life interferance, and feeling like crap, or becoming depressed because you feel like you are letting folks down.

As a craftsman, you have to factor in time for unforseen emergencies getting in the way and screwing up your deadline.

I learned this the hard way a long time ago, and I stil have to remind myself from time to time not to promise unrealistic delivery dates.

The most important thing as you said, is to keep communications open with the clients, and to adjust your expectations of time to completion on the project.

Vitus, I went through exactly the same thing getting ready for my trip out West and to Estrella. Just work at your normal pace, communicate with all the customers, and if you can't get something done, you can't get it done. Let the customer know and don't kill yourself. This is a game, not life or death. And while I know you are like me when it comes to obsessing or feeling bad when you miss a deadline, or disappoint a customer, we are human. Things happen, and all we can do is our best.

Know how you feel. Have an order for 5 Cologne wide mouthed style face jugs, so I made 4 extra to account for screw ups and because I wanted a couple to take to GW. Lost every single one before they even made it into the salt kiln. Because I was forced to dry them too quick. @#$%! Can't do anything till after I get back now. I'll loose sleep over it when I can actually do something about it, till then... Thwuppppt!!!!

No hurry on my poleaxe.
I never stay in one place for three of my opponent's blows. I also never let my opponent throw three unanswered blows. Standing in front of your opponent lets him perfect his pell technique. Most fighters are very good against a pell. - Duke Gyrth

Sir,

You have the support of your clients, because of your skills.
You have their respect because you communicate with them how things are going, either way.

Do not fret, it will all be fine.

It looks AWESOME!!!!! :P
