I screwed up two scabbard bodies before deciding to try this- they are salvagable and will be available soon.

I want to keep it. His motto is cut into the main baldric strap.

I wanted to convey wealth and sophistication instead of the usual "UGh! Rape nun now!" bullshit.

that bright vermillion red on the straps is a lovely colour.

mind if I ask, is it a vegetan leather, and if so, bought that colour, or hand-dyed? I've been trying to get that sort of brightness in self-dyed leathers for a bit, and its pretty tough...

That's not red, it's British tan, which is reddish.

Woo Hoo! Sword and scabbard showed up today. Looks great! The blade draws clean and quickly from the scabbard.

Vitus hit another home run with this setup.

Only small reflection on the setup and its more because of the way these scabbards are designed, and the way we set gear up for the SCA, I need a heavier pommel or handle ended sword, or I need to add some sort of a locket to the scabbard to get the weight of the scabbard more forward so that it will hang more parallel. Right now the balance with my current sword is tip heavy, so the sword hangs more vertical. I checked when I toss a different sword with some of the old brass fittings from Windrose into the scabbard, and the extra weight pulled the scabbard its a really level plane.

Maybe the 2 attachment points to the scabbard for the baldric, if they were more spread apart might help provide a better balancing configuration.

But its a great setup and looks really rich. Very pleased with it, and I can't wait for the next set!

How is the balance on the blade in your hand, outside of the scabbard?
I never stay in one place for three of my opponent's blows. I also never let my opponent throw three unanswered blows. Standing in front of your opponent lets him perfect his pell technique. Most fighters are very good against a pell. - Duke Gyrth
