Two shields I recently completed.

Post by owen matthew »

Here are a couple new ones I have done recently. I put up detail shots in the link. This is cross-posted in the major shield painting thread, also on this forum.

Here is a link to my SCA shields and helmets album on photobucket. http://s45.photobucket.com/albums/f57/o ... OLLECTION/

Newest one, finished yesterday, and got photos today. Just needs clear coating and straps. A bit slopy, but you cannot tell from 12'' away. Its my houshold's cross, if you were wondering. Its all my own spin on the Constantine story from 312. I wanted to use this with a crusader kit, but the kit fell through. Shield with welded backing was made by gunther of Orkney.

I want to try to epoxy this one, but it has no cloth. it is just a painting on metal.

Here is a buckler for a squire-brother's knighting. You can quickly tell how much difference a good photographer makes on a photo. I took this one myself. Boo. EDIT: I just got a better copy of the shield's photo. Updated.

Also, I obviously stylized the ravens. I think they are Odin's, if I remember correctly. His are heraldic, but I wanted to give this a different touch. I am not sure how it was received, he got knighted in another state. Plus, I like painting birds.

Shield was made by Sit Thorfin here on AA.

Thanks for looking!
