WANTED: Pennsic Minion(s)

Post by brewer »

Reconstructing History ISO workers for Pennsic. Must be reliable, intelligent and have some retail skill.

Here's the deal: I'd prefer to have a couple of dedicated, "I am an Official RH Minion" full-time helpers vs. a bunch of Non-Minion part-time helpers with no particular loyalty to RH (though I'll take the latter or a mix if it's what I can get).

Official RH Minions get paid admission to Pennsic and can camp wherever they like (i.e., you can't camp at the store). Official Minions get fed by RH (i.e., money for the food court) as well, all three meals. Official Minions working on projects can use inventory (within reason) to complete projects at War; for example, if you want to do an embroidery project and need a hoop and some floss, you can take a hoop and a couple cards of floss as part of your pay. At the end of War, you'll get store credit (see below). So essentially, you get into Pennsic free and get fed free, as well as paid in store credit.

In return, the Official RH Minion is JUST THAT - your main focus the entire War is on RH. We expect Official Minions to do the entire run of War, land-grab to tear-down, and help set up and tear down the shop. We expect Official Minions to be at the shop no later than 10AM each morning, and maintain focus until 7PM (Midnight Madness will require you to be on-duty from noon until Midnight Madness dies down).

That said, Minions wishing to take classes or visit the A&S or fight/fence/shoot may certainly do so, provided coverage can be maintained in the shop. This must be within reason; I'll be most vexed if you tell me you want to take a class at 2PM and don't wander back until 6. We need a minimum of two workers in the shop at all times (of course, if someone has to pee or get a cup of coffee, we can go down to one, but that's driven by common sense). We schedule that stuff once on-site and we get to dig into the schedule. Me, I'll want to go fence/WMA/C&T, so fair's fair. 8)

Hourly workers are also happily accepted. While I won't pay your way into War, I'll feed you a comp meal on days you work (whatever meal is closest to your shift; if you're working from 1-7, either come a bit early so you can go get lunch, or I'll give you dosh to feed yourself supper). Plus you get to dip into stock as above. I will keep a shift schedule; it isn't McDonald's, but I do need to know who'll be at the shop when. But I do expect at least 24 hours' notice if something comes up you want/need to do, so I can arrange coverage. If you're ill or something, you must send a messenger to the shop or my camp to let me know, or there will be short-tempered-ness.

Both types get paid in store credit at the end of War: $100 for Minions and a sliding scale for hourly; for example, if you work a week's worth of daily 4-hour shifts, you get $50 worth of store credit.

I wish I could pay cash, but I can't.

The RH booth is on the Serengeti near the Food Court, on Battle Road next to Icefalcon Armory. We have electricity, and will have lights and box fans. ;) I <3 comfort (or at least as much comfort as can be had at Pennsic).

Make sense? Please respond by email - NOT ARCHIVE PM, EMAIL - to discuss.

Cheers!

If Pennsic was in October, I would be all over it. Unfortunately, I'm in debt(medical), and hate it. So I'm focused on working as many hours as possible until I climb out of the hole. I expect it to be late September when I finally free myself from these chains. So sadly I have to pass this year.

hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules and sadistic
pleasure in witnessing violence: in other words it is war minus the shooting.

I'll be dedicated to Casa Bardicci this year and will be helping Sir Gaston with his house project again. That said, if there are any days mid-first week through mid-second week when you need a bit of help for a couple hours in the afternoons I may be able to come by to assist you. Those are dead hours for me, typically. No need to reimburse me for it when the time comes, I'd just be happy to help. You can drop by the Casa some evening and let me (or someone who looks like they belong there) know what's up on evenings prior, or if you're really awesome and have it all figured out beforehand you can email me before the event!

Cheers.

Michael, if you can get to Philadelphia, we can take care of the rest. Srsly.

Gerhard, I'll definitely keep you in mind. We're attending short-staffed this year - weddings and other personal stuff are hitting the roster quite badly. So every little bit helps!

Cheers,

Bob

I'd love to! But oh wait. I'll be lying on a beach near Honolulu whilst you folks are all at Pennsic. Ah well, perhaps another time.
