Welcome and well come to the Archive, Shayne. You're in the right forum.
With things being how they are, is it still convenient to cross the border if necessary? It may not be, considering how active the Society for Creative Anachronism is around Vancouver -- The Barony of Lions' Gate. The whole SCA Kingdom of An Tir is thick around you, both the Canadian side and the US.

Hi there
I am down in the seattle area but vancouver has a couple active sca shops.
my ex squire christian is fairly versed in working titanium and lives up there.
you can join the kingdom fighers mailing list here: http://missives.antir.sca.org/mailman/l ... r-fighters.
write in and ask about local armourers.

Well, I'm not on the island, but I'm just outside Vancouver in Coquitlam. you're welcome to swing by my shop if you're ever on the mainland.

There's a few folks from the mainland that lurk around here, but the island is a little sparse. Allan Robbins has done some work, but I haven't seen him around here. What is your area / level of interest? Living History, or SCA? If your interest is more Living History, there is a little more activity on the island, with the groups out at Fort Rodd Hill, but I don't know how much armouring they do.
SCA wise, your best bet may be to head over to the mainland, as there are a few more people over here.
Chris Moone, ArmourKris, Magnus, Ieuan and Geoffrey have various forms of shops that I know of, and Mackenzie looks also to be doing some nifty raising work recently.

I'm in Victoria. I don't do much in the way of armouring these days, but I do a fair amount of non-ferrous metalworking.

its neither for SCA or anything else me and my fiance are having a medieval themed wedding and me being the smart one decided to make my outfit from scratch it doesnt have to be historically accurate but i want it to look good. ive made myself a 16g 1/2 ring size mail shirt didnt like it decided to go smaller rings so workin on that and then got started on i believe sinrics spaulder pattern for starters to learn what a pattern does from flat to dished but i believe i want to go more gothic pauldron style as to the one in the archive site with maybe a different not so fin looking wing. the spaulders ive made are using 16g cold rolled steel but once again as its just for my wedding doesnt need to be sca approved or anything. And that is about where my experience ends. where abouts are you on the island gaukler? and is there anywhere local on the island to buy tools for this trade or am i better off doing as im doing making my own and grindin my own usin different ball piens and hammers like ive been doing?
