Made by me. Brand new. Mild steel, 16g.
The lames are flared on the back edge and nest nicely. Throughout articulation there is very little gap. This means a smack on the fingers is very likely to hit a reinforced edge, and even if it deforms the plate it'll immediately contact with the one under it.
The thumbs aren't welded closed (ran out of gas) but I did add a thick leather inner - it's 8/9 oz, which doesn't sound like much until you realize it's a tiny piece. It flexes but doesn't transmit a lot of shock. I fight with a pair like this.
Strapped and ready to go but as you see I need to finish the right - it's not riveted in yet. That'll happen tomorrow or Wed. I also fight in a pair like these, where the glove cuff is anchored in. Getting them on and off is great that way. Might need a light tug on the index finger to get off. No fumbling.
The cuff has a flared edge for reinforcement. It's a small cuff so I didn't want to roll it the whole way. Also notice that the palm strap doesn't go across the palm - it starts between thumb & pointer and goes down to the base of the hand. I think it anchors better and doesn't get so much in the way of your grip.
As you see you can fight with the thumb inside the lames or out. I fight with them out most of the time.
I make me-sized armor most of the time. I'm an average sized guy (for North America - not necessarily the SCA).
I have wider than average hands and a little shorter than average fingers, but I designed these for a little extra room in the fingertips. The gloves are off-the-shelf "roping gloves" from Harbor Freight (which have been tailored to the gaunt).
My measurements:
Width of hand: 3 3/4". There is no extra room width-wise.
Length of thumb, to base of proximal phalanx: 2 3/4".
Bottom of palm to middle fingertip: 7.5". Like I said there's a little extra room up there.
I want $300. I'll entertain counter-offers. I'll also trade for interesting stuff.
Let me know if you want better pictures sent via email.

Re: Gauntlets for sale
Received PM, sale pending.
Although if it takes less than 12 hours to sell a pair, expect another in a month or so!
Also, point of curiosity: did anyone pass based on the size? If so, how big's your hand?

Re: Gauntlets for sale
What I like about them is that they are short. Too often I see gauntlets that look like they were designed for an orangutan. Grant you, they do have to wrap around the outside of a closed hand. So I understand.
But it is terribly inconvenient for those of us with short fingers and broad hands.

Re: Gauntlets for sale
Bump!
Buyer has been totally unresponsive since the initial PM over a week ago, so they're back up for sale.
FYI, everyone: I don't make stuff for sale all the time. I only sell stuff I have. These gauntlets are an already-existing thing on my living room mantle right now. If you send me a check or money order, they will be in the mail within two business days of my receiving it.
Price is $300usd. I was unclear on shipping. If you're in CONUS I'll cover shipping.
If you want to wheel-and-deal, fire away.
I like tools, guns (would have to be in-state in Virginia), and raw metals (interested in heat-treatable sheet, and precious metals always works).
I could always use more SCA stuff like furniture, garb, etc.
Riveted/ welded maille is also something I want (and won't buy and won't make).
ETA: Also looking for a really large pavillion top (like 20x20) but we're probably getting out of range there if it's in decent shape.
Feel free to offer anything else.
