4 new helmets.

Post by GuntherofOrkney »

the first 2 are mongol helmets for my friends buddies, they have basic brasswork on them. The 3rd helmet is my friends lifting visor mongol helmet with acid etched bronze on it.(i didnt do the acid etching) these 3 helmets are out getting blackened then leather drapes will be added. the last is my personal barbute made from scrap parts and i have been slowly working on it for over 4 monthes hehe.

Very nice stuff!! Love the trim! What gauge are the brims of the Mongolian helms? Stainless? I have future plans for a Hellenistic helmet that would have a similar brim, and I wonder how well they hold up to SCA heavy pounding.

Brims will dent some, of course. Narrower, thicker-built brims will dent less. I think it's RoaK that has a kettlehat with 3/8" round stock welded into the edge of the brim to make it extremely sturdy regardless of what crashes into it.

Very nice practical helms.
Jolly well done on style fit and finish.

The brass etched one looks a little scary in the mouth area, also looks awesome is their a chance we could get a front view of that to see how it works

Curious how much one of these would cost....and if you might be taking orders

I like the barbute.

Also, ditto on some more pics of the etched one.

i am gonna still add a phoenix cut out of stainless steel to both sides of the dome(my device)and gonna add some edging along the bottom of the barbute but not sure what i wanna do yet. Gonna get better pics also.

the padding in the helmet is just temp stuff,he still needs better padding to line up the face.
