using the outer casing from a huge bearing I made a small stake mounted mini dishing tool today
internal radius 4 1/8" aprox
width just over 3" and nearly 4" long
depth across the 3" is about 1/4"
it is hard and polished.
anyone want to comment
( yes I could radius the corners but it is a lot more work and being squarer may have uses and I mainly think of this for small stuff that fits inside it)
it is on a 20mm ( 3/4" ) shank but I can add a stop collar and a sleeve to it it in a hardy hole of 3/4" or 1" and maybe bigger if asked.
I have larger sections like this I can use

Re: junkyard tools, mini dish stake / hardy tool
That is a useful tool.
I have made myself some from various cut pipe segments.
The hard bearing surface is a nice plus.
How did you cut your bearing housing? A plasma torch?
Hal.

Re: junkyard tools, mini dish stake / hardy tool
thank you Hal
I used a cutting disc on a grinder to cut up the casing, the plasma would do it but it would still need the same amount of work with the grinder to clean it up afterwards.
I have enough plasma cutting to do soon anyway with nearly half a ton of cast iron that is about 1 1/2" thick to cut up for a fireback.
will take this tool to the next event I do and see if it sells, if so will make more

Looking at that curve I'd bet that you have enough left over for several more...
Have you thought of selling them in a matched set: Curve up and curve down---dish and plannish?

Re: junkyard tools, mini dish stake / hardy tool
the outside of this is only curved one way to fit into the housing and the inner part was like Hals roman ridge tool, rollers are all barrel shaped.
yes I have more of this but will wait to see how it goes.
anyone else got any junkyard tools to show off?
