Jousting Practice

Post by Leo Medii »

Getting ready to throw my hat in the ring for next years Lists on the Lake. Been hitting it hard core and practicing at least every other day. Had a practice today at the Exaclibur Horse center with some of the guys who participated in Lysts this past season. I'd be heading up to Trillium next weekend except it's my wifes due date.

Some pics of some jousting training-

Nice.

This guys needs to rotate the wrist around more so their palm is facing up and the knuckles down.

Leo,

Awesome stuff, but I am concerned about lance-hand safety. Your opponent's appears to be not very fully armored, and the flare of the grip of the lance does not look broad enough to cover it in case of an accidental foul strike to the hand. Have you considered adding a vanplate?

Hey Leo,

What do you think of your companion's helm? I'm thinking of getting something like that for the HeavyList.

That, sir, is awesome.

What breed is your horse? I see you raise Gypsies, but that's be a BIG Gypsy. Looks almost Friesian with his coloring, but not a Friesian build...

Leo - looking good!

Is your opponent wearing an off-the-shelf GDFB bellows face sallet? I wore one for the foot combats at Lysts this year and it was fine, except that one needs to add a stronger catch to the visor - the stock post and hole is (IMO) not strong enough to hold the visor shut against a lance strike.

Yeah!! Me too....

I really need to come over and play. Hey did you ever get in touch with Tom Nader? He was looking for someone to joust with this year and he is just over in Ohio from you.

I really need to come over and play......
