Zoombang Gear At PEnnsic (?)

Post by Duke Icefalcon »

Zoombang has contacted e about carrying their protective gear. I am thinking about having some stock to bring to Pennsic. Anyone here interested in getting something from them that might want to see and try it on first at Pennsic? I would sell for the same price as Zoombang.

Cheers!

I'd love to see some of their stuff. All I've seen is one shirt.

I'm sure you would sell a ton of the kidney and rib pads separate from a shirt. Probably shoulders too.

I agree about the individual pads option - several locals have been asking me about them.

They also have some clavicle pads on one of their hockey shirts. Those look interesting as well, if you can get just the pads.

I think the shirts would sell well.

I personally would be interested in the knee pads and rib pads.

I would like to be able to get the individual pad if they are a reasonable price.

While the individual pads are quite reasonable, I'm not sure if Ice is going to want to get into carrying all those extra SKU's. Maybe the Kidney/shoulder one (they're the same pad, just sewn on elsewhere) would be worth carrying on its own. Regardless, if you want individual pads, you can order them from Zoombang over the phone. There is a thread in which Sir Omarad linked a photo with an index of pad names and prices.

Bear in mind that you are going to have a *REALLY* tough time using a consumer machine to sew these pads on, as the runoff outside the actual gel inserts is very narrow. I finally broke down and hand-sewed them onto a tank-top. I doubled the thread, and went back around for a continuous seam on both sides.

IIRC, the guy who did my gambeson said he ended up having to use a stepper foot attachment on his machine to manage them.

I would like to see the knee pads and the gloves. The individual pads would be very interesting as well since their clothing does not fit me.

Not to derail, but will you have any of those premade lamellar suits at Pennsic?

So, i just spoke to someone at their facility, and they will make a short sleeve version of the shirt, it just wont have bicep pads. Trying to convince them to use smaller pads if they have them, but no dice so far.

Couldnt you just buy a long sleeved shirt, chop the arms to length, and hem it up?

In theory, but I would rather have them do the work.

I am having a hard time finding someone who can put one together for me correctly. This is a new venue for me. I will try to have something for PEnnsic but I do not want to rush something out there that is not right.

Thank you for the input on the shirts and pads. I will continue to look into this to see if it is a feasible venture.

Late to this posting party, but I'm considering buying one of the shirts from the manufacturer, but I was concerned about getting the wrong size based on what some others had said about sizing issues. Being able to walk up to a table, try one on, and purchase the right size for the same price as online w/ no shipping sounds like a win.

I may get one before just based on what I've heard about their customer service, but I imagine there are at least a few others who might feel the same way.

We are wroking on this still and might have a great solution. I have someone who is top notch at putting these together working on this for us. We should have at least 3-4 of the lamellar shirts put together for the war in aircraft aluminum, spring brass and a combination of both.

See you there!

We are still working out the details as to what we may have and if we are going to do this. I will keep you in the loop. Currently, I am interested in carrying the shirts and possibly knee and elbow pads. If we carry the shirts, I plan on having sizes small to 4X in both the long anf short sleeve version of the shirts.

Those knee pads look excellent.

Seem like a great alternative to standard stuff, look especially nice for those of us with bum knees.
