returning to the field.
so this past weekedn i took part in the first tourney ive fought in at least 15 years. i was very nervous having focused solely on war fighting.
i thought i would be much worse than i turned out to be.
my defence is still pretty strong. ( minus the 3 shots i took somehow all off armor) and i feel my blow calibration is pretty good.
my biggest issue i think is my offence. i had plenty of people tell me how well i fought but to me it kinda feels like they were just being polite. maybe not but i felt my shots were slow with not much power on them and clumsy as well. my acuracy is suffering but i know those are things i can work on.
i was surprised how much skill was still there. like i said my defence was good. my awareness i felt was much better than in the past. i could read my opponents better. predict where they were throwing, and even get a few decent shots in myself.
i would like to brag about coming in 2nd after so many years (which did happen) but as there were only 5 fighters and one was a knight its not really that impressive.

Congratulations Heath. Are there practices near where you are? Are you going to be at GWW?

Heath, I'll be there Thursday. Please set some time to come work with me while you are there, if even out of armor.

Like riding a bicycle. Muscle memory tends to stick... so the basics are probably going to stay sound.
Though the amount of rust you need to knock off may be considerable to get *really* decent again.

Re: returning to the field.
You impressed me with your fighting at the tourney Health, you fought well. You're blocking just right with your small teardrop, not over blocking at all which I totally expected since a lot of you're experience is with that old heavy Fray shield. Wasn't one of your victories in the tourney against the one knight fighting? Sir Helgi is no easy fight.

Re: returning to the field.
yes indeed it was sir Helgi who in return for a lucky slot found exactly where my cuisse,s end and right where my cop ends as well.
and as far as the kites go you have to remember that the only real blocking we did with those things was vertically.
you always had somebody on either side of you, and when i used them one on one they covered quite a bit.
but thanks again for the compliments. like i said im trying to get out there more. ive already made plans to be there next sunday.

I hate that shot! Ouch.
I love it when people come back to the field, be it the war field or the tourney field. Welcome back, and have fun!

My Lady got a video of one of your fights. I love your kit, especially the helmet.
