I've just added a bunch of stakes that I won't need to the listings if anyone is interested http://www.ebay.com/sch/merctailor/m.ht ... 4340.l2562

Any interest in selling all your hammers and stakes in one big lot to someone who would come pick it up and save you shipping everything? If so lets talk.

Matt,

No fair posting exactly what I was thinking! And no fair trying to scoop us out of a chance at some good hammers as well. I recognize some of those as probably coming from the Lynch horde. :)

I just can't rationalize the price of a hammer when shipping is added.

Course if other people are thinking the same thing I could shoot myself in the foot and suggest an auction for the lot on here.

As mentioned in the closure notice, in the three weeks prior to closing we had taken in $28. Thats not going very far at all. I've sold off anything else of value I own over the past months as the economy has gotten worse and worse to fill in the sagging cash hole. My tools are the only thing of value I have left and since the mortage company, the power company ect. don't take sob stories in leui of payment the tools get sold. As I was literally pennyless at time of closing ( that big $28 was long gone ) I needed cash as soon as I could get it and as much as I could get. The AA is great but thats 20,000 people, ebay is a coupla million which increases the odds quite a bit of maximizing the payout which is what I need to cover the bases while i'm looking for a day job. Having watched and bought on ebay since the 90's bulk lots of good stuff sell for less than if you parts that lot out and since i'm trying to keep from going into default on bills I need to get the most I can. If these were just extra tools in a great economy it wouldn't be such a factor but they're not. They're the only thing of value I own in a crap economy and i'm looking for a job. I simply posted notice here to let folks know since theres alot of hammer jockeys here and i'm moving this stuff on. Wish things were different, man do I wish things were different but they're not.

Ditto to what Matt said. I'm sorry to hear about the financial trouble. I'll be bidding on more then a few of these. You can never have too many hammers. :)

Rochester is farther from me then Pennsic but I'll be making it as close as Ithaca in the near future. If I win enough of them I may just extend that trip and pick them up myself. You have a bunch of nice toys.

Just listed some more stuff. I've still got to put up what is now a spare anvil since laying off my part timers.

Combined shipping on multiple hammers (things that fit in one box together) might be viable? Flat rate boxes are the same price whether there's 1 hammer or 5. Thinking out loud here, not sure what Allan wants to do.

I'm interested in seeing the anvil. I might be able to pick it up and save the shipping on that, which I'm sure would be a huge headache.

James, from each of the auction listsings " I'm willing to combine shipping within reason, assuring the safety of the contents of the box. If I feel that the contents is too much and risks spliting ths box then multiple boxes will be needed."

I've shipped a couple of anvils before when I closed down my secondary shoppe in '07 as the economy first tanked and sold off the tools. UPS will do it, usually palletized, runs $90- $130-140 depending on where its going ( that was 4 years ago anyway ). The only real suck is getting it to the car and getting it back out to the store.

BUMP! I just got myself 4 bids for 5 hammers, mostly the smaller lighter ones that were in my price range. I hope everyone else did well also. Seeing as how most other stuff has passed my budget I don't mind bumping this thread for the stuff that ends in 3-6 days.

:) I'll assume I didn't outbid you on all of them. WAY too many I made a solid bid for and someone had already put in a higher reserve. If you needed the small hammers and got too many big ones we can talk trades.

I've got bids in on a few stakes as well (STAY AWAY!) so I'm holding offon shipping to see if they can be combined.

Sean I can send you an invoice for just the cost of the hammers ( no shipping ) and settle up on the postage when the stakes end. Did the same thing for Kel.

Cool! I can send paypal tonight. It would be the 4 hammer lots purchased by Eliz-rivenstar (my wifes account as I don't keep an e-bay account) but the pay-pal will have my name on it.

Or you could invoice me for the hammers plus shipping (they might all fit in a bulk-rate USPS but I can't tell from here) and if I don't win anything else ship them as is. If I do win something you can apply the old shipping as credit towards the combined shipping.

BTW, I pointed the Haybud anvil out to a farrier and a hobiest blacksmith much closer to you. I hope it sells well.

Your call, I sent over an invoice with combined shipping yesterday. I can shoot you a new one minus shipping if you'd like or just settle up and if theres more stuff , figure out if it will fit with the hammers or no and take care of the balance then. You let me know what your cool with.

Good thing you mentioned it, the spam filter ate it. Just sent the payment a couple minutes ago.

Thanks Allan, I'm sure I'll be having you ship a few stakes my way too.

Le Bump!

I just picked up another 2 hammers and a stake but missed the offset stake. Oh well, not my price-point. I hope whoever gets it enjoys it.

There is still a nice looking anvil and a few other heavy things lift. People should go look.

Allan, drop me an e-mail or PM with a combined shipping cost and I'll throw the rest at you with pay-pal.

Thanks,
Sean

Didn't see any heavy things; anvil is only 100 pounds, good maker, decent shape; but 100 pounds is *light*; I mean you can pick it up and throw it into the truck or even a car to take to events!....it's shippable by ups and deserves a good home...I have 5 under 140# already or I would be bidding on it...
