Anyone missing their leg harness?

Post by Paladin74 »

Saw this on ebaY and thought to post it here...the seller hasn't had any feedback within the last six months but now has more than a few items listed, these in particular caught my eye.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steel-Leg-Armor-/150676722083?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23150851a3

Edited to add: in the description area, he has a little blurb that calls these 'Steel Street legs'...I would hazard a guess he might mean Armstreet? Anyway, I emailed him to ask him the usual stuff- sizes, measurements, gauge, who made it, that sort of thing. Keep you posted.

Definitely looks like Armstreet's work. I once wanted a pair of those.

With the recent discovery of these dumpster divers, it stands to reason that we would all be on the lookout.

Ursor, I'm with you...all the rest of his stuff is unrelated so...probably a similar case here as with Felix and the other gent's armor.

 40K members plus over the years. Coupled with the SCAdian habit of living in someones basement and bailing on the rent, or buying stuff and using it for four days and giving up, or putting things in a storage locker and then not paying for it, etc... but armor on Ebay? IT'S MOST LIKELY STOLEN! IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT"S CALLED THEY ARE THIEFS!

I get what you are saying Maeryk, but imo, it certainly doesn't hurt to keep an eye out on e-Bay, CraigsList and the like to see if anyone recognizes this stuff. We have in fact seen several Stolen Armour posts that were legitimately stolen in the past couple of months.

No, it doesn't. But this is cyclical here, with people going after sellers and tossing out words like theft with 0 proof.

Poor discriptions and little knowledge of the items usualy leads to questions of how the item came to be for sale.
It also usualy means the item will sell below value, so it makes little sense for someone trying to make a profit not to provide a decent description.

Its worth asking the question hear as there is a good chance the armour would be recognized and finding out how the item came to be up for auction.

Which was the point of making this thread...I am not saying it is stolen as I do not know that for certain- but I'm well aware that it MIGHT be.

I didn't realize the stereotype of "the SCAdian habit of living in someones basement and bailing on the rent, or buying stuff and using it for four days and giving up, or putting things in a storage locker and then not paying for it, etc" was so prevalent. I never saw that it was posted as stolen armor either, just as a heads up - and I've seen at least 2 threads lately about stolen armor, so it seems a reasonable heads up since there's basically no information on the armor at all in the listing, and it's listed as "new".

Anyway, the auction was pulled.

A lot of armour dissapears that way. Especially "loaner armor". I've had pieces dissapear that someone borrowed "for a month" and two years later when they resurface "Oh, man.. I just had to get out.. that place was TOXIC.. they kept my (your) stuff man!"

Find out where "that place" was and ask about the stuff "oh.. he skipped out owing six months rent after stealing a bunch of our crap and selling it.. so we sold it. Sorry, didn't know it was yours!"

Shire stuff has gone that way too.. and you can't just go to the storage facility and say "Hey, that sketchy dude who rented the narrow locker? Yeah, we think he took some of our stuff and skipped out on us, as well as you. Can we peek in there?"

From the looks of it its all ashcraft/baker mild steel stuff. Rusty but not really dented or bent...I know I to am some times a cheap ass. I bet it is loaner gear or a new guys stuff he just gave up and forgot. But that allmost looks like 2 sets of knees. They are allmost the same size. Hmmm....

Interesting that the first link I posted has been removed. Listing ended because item was no longer available...but no one bid or won it. Ah well.
