FS: Discounted High Quality COP--not Wisby, many Alum plates
FS: Discounted High Quality COP--not Wisby, many Alum plates on beautiful yellow/gold leather. This would be a somewhat later period COP. There must be over a 100 plates expertly rivetted with copper rivets on to the high quality leather! And reinforced with contrasting black leather on the shoulders for attaching shoulder armor. Brand new never worn. No sweat stains or smells. Fits me an i am about 6' 220 lbs. I believe i had it custom made for about 46"-48" chest and 42"-44" waisit or so. There is room for a gambeson but u really dont need any extra padding or protection. This is a light-weight suit that protects from EVERY angle on the torso. Retains good flexibility and looks completely period (and utterly beautiful!)
If you meesage me on this forum or call me at 520-488-6932 i can send a series cell phone pics. I have not mastered the art of getting pics on this site....
I paid about $500 plus for this---i am looking for about $400 or at least in the $300's or so, but am accepting offers and may discount it even more if someone is able to buy in the next few days.
Thanks!

The word you want is "brigandine".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigandine wrote:Brigandines were essentially a refinement of the earlier coat of plates, which developed in the late 12th century and typically were of simpler construction and used larger plates. The Asian-originated armour reached Europe after the Mongol invasion in 1240 that destroyed the Kievan Rus' and generated extensive damage to the Kingdom of Hungary in 1241. The new armour became very popular first in Eastern Europe, especially in Hungary, towards the end of the 13th century and after having proved effective was adopted by the medieval states from West Europe several decades later.[1]
Brigandines first appeared towards the end of the 14th century, but survived beyond this transitional period between mail and plate, and came into wide use in the 15th century, remaining in use well into the 16th. 15th century brigandines are generally front-opening garments with the nails arranged in triangular groups of three, while 16th century brigandines generally have smaller plates with the rivets arranged in rows.
I never stay in one place for three of my opponent's blows. I also never let my opponent throw three unanswered blows. Standing in front of your opponent lets him perfect his pell technique. Most fighters are very good against a pell. - Duke Gyrth

Recieved it today... it's gorgeous to say the least.
It also doesn't quite fit on my mutant frame.... so it will be going with me to Medieval Marketplace

I have to admit, I've coveted a good brig for a while...as in years. So it was a bit of a punch in the yarbles....
But I know it's going to make someone very happy. 48" chest over pourpoint is MAX for sure and 42-44"" is right on... for medieval, not modern waist size.
