shipping costs?

Hi!

We're starting a group in the Canary islands, Spain and are looking for bits of starter armour. Most variety and better prices seem to be got in the US or Canada but I worry about shipping costs.
Does anyone have experience of trans-atlantic shipping costs?

Alternatively, does anyone know of affordable, SCA-legal armour that can be bought in Europe? http://www.arms-armor.cz/ is affordable but I wonder if the pieces are safe for combat. We prefer (late) period-looking armour if that makes any difference.
