Steel Mastery Reviews for SCA grade equipment?
Hi All,
I'm considering ordering a SCA helm from SM, anyone order from them recently? I had searched some archive posts and at least one person said it has taken up to year for delivery. I'm looking to get back into fighting SOONER rather then in a year...
Anyone fought in their helms? Do they stand up?
Tanks!

I don't know what type of helm you're looking for but I've had good luck with Tengushin.

ive had numerous transactions with steel mastery.
it is very spotty at best.
out of 5-6 transactions maybe 2 were easy and correct. 1 big order was made wrong(left out options that i paid extra for) and offered no recompense. all i got was a opps sorry. no refunds.

yeah honestly after much experience i would pass on steel mastery and go with a more reputable armorer. check into shamrock armory or icefalcon, or any other myriad of armories out there that have spent tons of time intentionally building their reputations.

what exactly are you looking for? some armorers are better at certain things.
maybe we can help direct you to someone who can fill your particular needs.
price range would also be helpful.

Sure,
I'm trying to put together an 11th Century Varangian Guard kit. Probably lamellar body, splinted greaves and arms and a helm something between an ocular helm and the Norman style, preferably with a full mask or avantail. I like blued/ blacked steel/stainless for a finish.
So late Viking or Phrygian/ Rus.
Thanks.

Jolly knight had an awesome Rus helm up a bit ago. Maybe give him a look.

Re: Steel Mastery Reviews for SCA grade equipment?
Well, guys.. We did have problems back then (mostly with the delivery in time), but we have really improved recently. I dare to say there were no troubles during the last year (if someone is willing to contradict, then speak!).
Our general rule now is to declare required manufacturing to the client time and it happens that we don't manage to finish in time, we return back the whole amount paid in advance, no more question asked.
And you can always return the item you bought if you don't like it for any reason.

I've had the exact opposite experience with Steel-Mastery than Heath. Quick delivery time, good prices, great product. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.
