Armour for Sale

Post by talaananthes »

So, I've realized, I'm never actually really going to get into SCA combat. I have too many other things to do, and too much money sank into armour that I'm not going to use enough to be worth owning.

So, with that being said, I have the following available, pics will go up when I have a chance:

Sorry for the blurry pix, cameras and I are not friends.

1. Stainless early bascinet from Shamrock. Solid visor (flat klappvisor style faceplateplate) with side hinges, interchangeable bar grill. Visors secure with a springloaded button above the visor, VERY secure and low visibility so no inauthentic leather straps to hold it closed. Brass vervelles for attachment of mail aventail. Padded hand-sewn green linen liner and cloth aventail sewn to inside. Head is stuffed with real horsehair, aventail is stuffed with linen scraps. My head is 23.25", it would fit me or a bit larger, maybe up to 23.5". This has been worn only a few times, not broken in, never actually fought in. This is a fucking awesome helmet that deserves better than to sit on my dresser. The actual money that I have in this is about $800 all inclusive, I'll sell it for that shipped and insured to CONUS.

I'll post a picture of the interchangeable bar grill (included in price above, visors attach with two pins that are also included) when I have it on hand. I know where it is but can't get to it right now.

2. Icefalcon stainless aventail. This is one of the 9mm round rivet flat ring ones. Size medium. I believe that this has never actually been used. $200 shipped to CONUS.

And one of the mail and helmet together:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w89/ ... C_0769.jpg

3. Custom padded subarmalis from La Wren's Nest. Linen with wool padding, shoulders doubled. White with black shoulders. $80 shipped to CONUS.

4. Cotton Revival.us gambeson, forest green with black interior, size small, new although it seems a few buttons came off during storage . . . they're not great buttons anyway. $100 shipped.

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w89/ ... C_0772.jpg

5. Hardened aluminum clamshell gauntlets. These are heavily used, but in very good mechanical condition. They're bombproof. I have fought in them and they're great SCA gauntlets, great protection for very little weight. Size large. $100 shipped.

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w89/ ... C_0767.jpg

6. 1 pair Stonekeep Armory early style (soupcan) simple knee cops, size B, $60 shipped.

7. McDavid hexpad short sleeve 6-pad body shirt. Size small, new with tags still attached. $50 shipped.

8. Three ply curved Baltic birch heater shield with heavy linen canvas laminated facing. This is the real fucking thing, highest level of authenticity possible for a shield. New, unpainted, unstrapped, NEW. 24" wide across the tip, 34" long down the center. $100 plus shipping. Already dibs'd, will post if it becomes available again.

9. Hidden plastic coat of plates, SCA modified Wisby style. Used, but in good condition. Sturdy canvas shell, plastic plates fully hidden. Size is small guy worn over gambeson and haubergeon, with a little room to spare. Maybe between a 40" and 44" chest. $50 plus shipping.

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w89/ ... C_0771.jpg

10. 1 pair of custom hand made by Elizabeth from Ayres and Lockheart (They're on the Archive, I forget the user name) gamboised cuisses, linen canvas shell with cotton/bamboo batting for padding and square dagging at lower edge. Includes grommets to lace to belt or arming coat, as well as grommets to attach knee armor. Size medium slightly long or so . . . I'm 6' but relatively skinny, and these would fit someone my size or maybe up to 6'3". They fit me with a little extra room, would fit someone up to about medium width. Like new condition, never fought in, awesome padding for under your leg armor. $100 shipped.

11. 1 pair shiny black Laredo vintage cowboy boots. Appear new, might have been worn a couple times, definitely not broken in to someone's foot so might as well be new. These are marked size 10 1/2, but I believe that's a womens' size which means they'd fit about a size 9 man. There is NOTHING gender specific about these, they would look great on either a man or woman. $60 shipped.

Interested in the other stuff depending on what it is (dibs on shield, weapons, half-gaunts, gorgets, arms, legs, etc. if you have them). Pics would be great whenever you are able. Second dibs on the subarmalis...depending on sizing, etc.
Thanks,

There is a shield. Baltic birch heater shield with hard canvas cover, unpainted, unstrapped. Again, awesome equipment that should really be used not sitting away in my garage.

Subarmalis is big on me, but I'm narrow. I'd guess it'd probably fit in about the 42" to 44" chest range? It's probably about a centimeter of padding, doubled over the shoulders, never been worn except over clean mundane clothing but would probably be just right for SCA fighting.

Regarding the dibbing of stuff not listed: Is that a major mistake? He sounded like he had other stuff, "A few other things as well", and my loaner kit could use it. If that is wrong them by all means I release my dibs to you (even though I still would like the shield). And releasing 2nd dibs on the subarmalis...too small.
Sorry,

Not a mistake. I just think the Dibbing gets crazy around here. I have sold stuff before, only to wait longer for payment because of the whole Dibs thing.
I am a member of a few forums and this one has the most Dibbing I have ever seen. I think some people Dibs just to think about it, which can be a pain in the ass for buyers who are ready to go as well as the seller . ( not saying you are )
Hell I have been caught up plenty of times in the madness. I have just come to accepit is part of the forum.
I do think Dibbing unlisted items is a bit much. Maybe PM him and ask what else he's got?
Kinda like going to the toy store, saying " I want first call on what gets stocked." Not exactly fair to everyone else.
Nothing personal, just my 2 pennies.

Oh, and just for shits and giggles,

9. 1 pair black Laredo vintage cowboy boots. Appear new, might have been worn a couple times, definitely not broken in to someone's foot so might as well be new. Marked as size 10 1/2 D, but I wear that size and these are about a full size maybe a size and a half too small for me. Very awesome boots, I was highly disappointed when I got them and they were so small. $60 shipped.

EDIT: Actually, ya know, I just realized they're probably a women's size 10.5. There's nothing about them though that's gender specific, so I'd say they'd probably fit a man size 9 with slightly narrow feet or a woman size 10.5 with normal width feet. I bought them off Ebay as being men's 10.5 D's back before I left for Africa, they came and were too small, and I didn't have time to deal with it before I left.

Working on it lol. Size large, roughly true to size. They're padded with faux sheep hair . . . works great, gets lots of comments along the lines of "that's a cool idea" . . . wish I could claim it was my idea lol.

Working on pictures. The subarmalis is boxed away still I probably won't get to it today, but it's the same as the one HERE, scroll down, no pteruges but with the body section padded as well. Their size medium, but I really suspect it may be a bit larger than they advertise.

Some prices and descriptions have been updated, and all items now added to the top post.

First batch of pictures posted. More to come in a few hours.

Also, considering trimming the gun safe as well. PM me for details, but I have a 7.62x39 Saiga rifle converted to military AK configuration with evil black rifle overtones and an all original numbers matching (including the magazine!) and extremely functional late 1944 or early 1945 FN-made A-series Belgian Army Browning Hi-Power that I'm considering selling.
