My first time in armour. I'm not happy with the legs, some buckles broke last minute, and that's why they're so low in the picture. I think I'll make some steel ones to replace them. I made some of it, bought others.

A buckle or cord going around the back of your thigh would keep them from flaring out so much. :)
And are those YOUR finger gauntlets OoO Cause they look good.

Like I said, both buckles popped as I put them on. The gaunts are GDFB, I just padded and gloved them.

Antonis,

For your first time in armour, you have the makings of a nice kit.

Ignoring the issues you are having below the waist, my biggest suggestion would be to get an aventail ASAP. There are some weird things happening between your upper chest, shoulders and helm that I can't place my finger on exactly why (very long neck), but an aventail should even it all out and make everything look much more cohesive.

Something that Chris Gilman said a bit ago (that I agree with) is to look at the silhouette as a whole and not the individual pieces. This is why the aventail is so needed.

Good luck and have fun!

If you're having trouble keeping your legs up, making or buying a c belt can solve a lot pf problems. It's pretty easy to make one. I used heavy canvas for the first one and wore it for a while before I could afford the leather to make a better one.

Your spaulders are hanging kind of funny too but I think it might just be the fit of whatever they are pointed to that's causing them to shift out of place. I don't know what sorts of sewing skills you have but you might be able to get some help in making a fitted arming coat if there's someone local to you who has mad sewing skills. You don't even need mad sewing skills to make one that will work but I had to have help with patterning mine so it fit right.

Don't you love it when friends take your pic and don't tell you your helmet is on crooked? Not the good rig but what I'm using currently.

Here is my kit, I'm looking at building a klivanion to replace the warbelt, still debating on the plates. Also adding splint greaves and vambraces. I just added a pair of two toggle boots from Viking leathercraft as well.

Here we go. Same pretty much as before except went from a heater to a kite shield not too long ago. First pic is just a cropped picture from a group pic, the second is full credit to Ursus for an amazing shot.

As always any advice to make my kit better is very welcome.

I love the Japanese kits...they just exude coolness.

@Antonis: I second the aventail. It also does wonders for Helm ringing. You have a great looking kit for a new guy, stay in the game!

Though I've been using the c.1390-ish kit I posted earlier in the thread more regularly lately, I really prefer to wear this one:

Canvas up the shield using sisal rope under (& rawhide over maybe?) for the edge and that would help lots and be cheap.

That and do something about the ABS basket hilt when you have the cash (I know I don't).

Kenwrec, in the first pic there is a Swamp Stick under the hat! LOL! I still managed to get a little color despite the goofy non-viking hat.

It was nice finally meeting you. As expected your kit did not disappoint, though I'd like to spend some more time actually looking at it rather than just doing a quick inspection. Maybe we will get a chance to actually talk metal and heat treating at TMT?

Gocauo (Gosavo) is actually Andalusion Christian. His new helmet is almost done and will be a big improvement. He and Kenwrec are squire brothers.

Yes. That was a bad day for my kit. If you look closely, you can see that my lame separated from my polyen as well...and later in the day, not by my own hand, the lovely wirewrapped sword you see was broken in the Pas during some fierce fighting. I am sad...
