Looking for late period (1550-1650) armor

Post by jgalak »

I am posting this on behalf of a friend who is looking for a helm and breastplate for shlagger fencing.

What he is looking for is cavalier/ECW era armour (1550-1650), specifically:

He wants a Burgeonet or English Pot helm, in no more than 16ga, with a pierced plate visor (either as an actual visor, or, more likely, inserted behind the cheekpieces).

He also wants Peasecod-style breast- and back-plates, in either 18ga or 16 ga.

Mild steel for all of this (maybe high carbon, depending on price), definitely not SS.

He wants fairly decorative stuff (not munitions grade). He's been looking at the stuff Valentine sells, and likes the looks of it, but not the prices.

So if anyone here is interested in this project, please email me directly, and let me know what price range and time range you can offer. If you have pictures of late period harness you've made, a link or attached photo would be appreciated. I will then put you directly in charge with my friend.

Thank you,

Greetings

I'm currently trying to raise money for some shears and have been wanting an excuse to make a steel cavilier hat for the rapier list. If interested let me know.
