Finally tweaked my gaunts and got them to the point where I can use a non-basket sword.
I shoulda made this a priority sooner......I fought better, had less issues than with my crappy half gaunts and baskets, and it didn't take near as much time to switch between system.

Congrats man! I did the same for a while, but had to sell the gaunts to pay bills. I will hopefully be doing the ditching the demis next month though. Do you use clams or fingers? Also, have you been able to make drop your main weapon and kill with the back up yet? That is the biggest rush....

I've never used anything but gauntlets.
As for backup weapons, I usually try to get the kill before I need to do that.

How would you compare your wrist motion in gauntlets compared to a basket hilt?

Re: Ditching half gauntlets!
I wear a variation of clamshells from armstreet.
A previous version of these.

Mine have soft cuffs with maille laced too them. I have been fighting in them for just over a year. Finally been fighting enough recently to figure out how to modify them a bit. Changed some straps around, removed the lacing down the center of the lames (They're reallly unnecessary) and just use a loop of leather thong for one of my fingers to keep them on.
I actually have better wrist movement with these than with my half gaunts and cup hilt, both were second hand or thrown together.
I don't currently have a back up weapon, I'm working on it, maybe a mace or war hammer in the near future.

So are you going to be at an event any time soon?

There's a local event coming up here in Vatavia, may make it to that one, after that.....Lilies if I'm lucky.
