9mm brass pin riveted rings?

Post by Knight Sir James »

My google-fu is weak and I can't seem to find these. I have some 9mm IceFalcon pin riveted rings and want to do edging with brass rings. I thought I've seen the loose rings somewhere, but can't find them. I checked IceFalcon and KOA, no luck. It was somewhere here in the US that had them. Anyone know where?

I am pretty sure Historic Enterprises used to carry loose brass rings, but they aren't listed on their site any more.

Not in the US but Cap-a-pie in the UK does list them on their site.

If you only want a couple hundred of these, do you want to try McMaster-Carr for solid spacer-rings in brass, with the use of as many riveted rings as you need if you're making three linkrows' worth of edge?

I've ordered a bag of brass rings from the Iceman. Whenever he gets them to me, I'd be willing to share. That may not be until the summer though.

Historic Enterprises was one of my first thoughts, glad to hear you say that too. It looks like the Cap A Pie rings are wedge riveted; I didn't see any pin riveted? It's not a huge deal, just trying to stick with pin riveted since I already have the pliers for them.

I'm a little confused; make rings from the mcmaster solid rings?

Were they wedge riveted, or pin? I saw the wedge, but didn't see any pin. I'd probably be interested either way.

No, I meant those for the half of the rings you don't have to open or close but can put in the weave pre-closed. Are you going to make a brass border more than one linkrow thick? You didn't really say anything but "edging."

Ah, gotcha. I'm planning on 3-4 rows of links, depending on what looks nice with the rest of the armor, without being "too much".

Historic Enterprises had the wedge riveted brass rings, but do not now. Icefalcon seems to be the only one carrying them at the moment. The only pin riveted brass rings I've ever seen where thick round wire rings from some Indian outfit already made into a shirt.

I don't recall. I have both types of setters so whatever he comes up with will be fine. Either way its better than making them myself. :)
