They are the first team from the US, made up primarily from SCA heavy-weights, who with no backround but for their own practice and research, used their own money to compete in a a tourney that has been untrod by us until now.... AND looked damn good while doing it.

Yeah, im a fanboy. Besides that, I have had the fortune to have had my ass kicked by a great many of these men, including Ice and Nissan.

No offense i was just joking. I know they are bad-ass...And the armor is AWESOME...!!!

I have been watching the BOTN i can get on internet. It is pretty interesting, although the rules are unknown to me--it appears you hit until they yield or go down to ground (one knee? both knees? all the way flat to ground?). Not sure about the grappling rules either, seems like the ability to trip, throw, push, shield bash, etc might be as important (or possibly more important) than cutting and hitting...but i am out of my league here...

Anyone got more information?

The other thing is, all i saw were axes and falchions--seems like blunt weapons would achieve more of the goal in this type of sport...Are maces, hammers, mauls, pike mauls, etc. allowed?
Reagrds, and by the way, want i want the card collection too...temporarily broke...! Sean

Your Grace,
As I will be unable to attend pennsic this year (med. school isn't cheap) I will be sending Baron Francesco money for the trading cards and a shirt. I would also like to know if you would be willing to sign the card or shirt.

To better understand victory conditions I would suggest reading the rules.
The English version is available on the usaknights.org web page.

I know you were joking, I just must defend my nerdom!

AFAIK, Any method except weapons thrusting is legal to drop your opponent to 3 points on the ground. I personally would kill for an aluminum or steel warhammer head Like the first pic, with a expanded tip like in the second (like most steel combat spears)

Thanks!

And thanks for the link on rules!

As a (very old) MMA guy---trained with Machado brothers BEFORE UFC I!

I was curious about the grappling rules, and thanks for clearing up on blunt weapons!!!

From the "Unified International" Historic Medieval Battle rules:
**
1.7.2. Polearms:

- Single-handed: axes – up to 1,300 g, maces and six-flanged maces – up to 1,000 g
b) Important! The length of a cutting part of an axe blade is to be not less than 7cm!
**

I think this is the rule that might prevent your can-opener plans. Might be worth running it past someone that knows better than I, though.

If it is legal, however, please let me know because I'll want one :D

If you get a hammer pattern that works with that can opener tip I would be willing to give it a try on the Mill. I have already done some prototypes with the sintered aluminum 3D printer. Also, that shirt looks awesome

Go Team USA!!!

You should set up a table on Wednesday night and have as many of the team as possible sign the cards for an extra fee.
I bet people would pay a good bit extra for signed cards and or photos with their favorite team member.
Might raise a good bit of money for next years team.

Don't put a price one signing cards, your better off simply putting out a donations jar.

We actually DO plan on having some guys sign their cards. I will see if they will come out for Midnight madness. No fee. You buy the cards and we will sign them for you. Of course, you are ALWAYS welcome to donate to the team travel fund.

See you out there!

Ice
