Also, Isabella I'm glad you found a solution to your problem. My first shield had a large, gnarly basket on it that drove my hand and wrist nuts. I've often wondered about canting the angle of the handle in relation to the face of the shield as well. I wonder if a strap handle could be made that is anchored to the shield at the top of where you want your hand to sit, then is not attached at the bottom. Grabbing the strap and rotating your hand at the wrist clockwise would then hold your hand firmly against the shield. Might work but probably too much pressure to maintain with your hand for long periods of time.
I was most amazed at this thread about how many people seemed to not read the original post at all and instead simply said, "Well here's how I strap my shield!" which had NOTHING to do with your question. Interesting to say the least.

I actually also took a piece of 3/4" EVA foam yesterday and trimmed it into a little wedge and that made it much more comfortable as well. I didn't feel like my hand and wrist were as out of alignment and curled oddly when gripping the strap.
My next shield I am going to try and put on a rigid handle canted with one edge shimmed up like Sir Mari and Sir Rauokinn do on their shields and see what happens as well.
It seems to me like a lot of people just don't have this problem. Maybe they don't understand what I'm getting at. That's ok. I appreciate everybody taking the time to comment.

I hated baskets till I found one that was really low profile, and just as big as my hand. When I hold the grip, the back of my hand is almost touching my shield. That's the only way they feel comfortable to me.
