Big toe and index toe are the same length, I believe.

I have that too, and I have vibrams, just try the 42. If you bought at REI they should exchange for you.

If you still want a pair of minimalist shoes to go with your toes, try Merril Trailgloves. I tried two sizes of Vibrams, but couldn't get them to work with my toes (not only is my second toe longer than my big toe, but the third one is too). The Merrils fit me perfectly; I won't run or work out in anything else. I even wear them while fighting heavy.

I thought Roman Toe was the same length and Greek Toe was second toe longer...Might be wrong though.

The technical term for it is Morton's Toe. Some people call it Greek or Roman toe due to the prevalence of Morton's toe in ancient Greek and Roman statuary.
