NOT NEEDED HELM WAS MAILED.

Post by MJBlazek »

I bought a helmet from Metal Masher here from the AA.

It was a pretty basic helmet. Cost me $80. He never sent it to me. told me he had a tracking number, but never gave it. I haven't heard from him in a month.

This helmet was supposed to be a Christmas present to an SCA friend, whose husband has decided to fight along side her.

I am trying to get my money back through PayPal but don't have it yet.

Does anybody have a cheap helmet to fit a 25 inch head and glasses they might be willing to part with.
Perhaps on good faith until I get the money back through pay pal.
I would be willing go make a down payment on it.

A couple of people through PM have told me they have had bad experiences with Metal Masher.

Try hjalmir (I think that's right). He specializes in cheap, tough helms. I used to have one of his for a starter helm.

Unfortunately I don't have that size in stock and I am still too busy trying to catch up on orders to help.
But thanks to those who recommended me.

I'm sorry. I have a bargrill bascinet I'd sell you but it barely fits a 23.5 inch head. Wouldn't even come close. Good luck though.

Man, that's no good... I do have a helm of that size that I'd be willing to sell you. It's one of Iron Monger's munition bascinets that's served me faithfully for the last ten years. But after shipping from Alaska to Maine I suspect it'd end up being cheaper to buy a new one directly from Eric... :-/

Matt, check your PM's. I think I have a stop gap solution.

Check to see if it fits in a large flat rate box from USPS. If so it's only about $15 to ship anywhere in the US.

Hi Mj,Im sorry to hear about this, I just had my first bad transaction here on the aa where I bought a pugio and the guy gave me the run around and refused to send me any tracking info, He didnt send the knife to me but he did refund me at least.

Enough about me though, Let me know if you find a helm or not, I can throw together a barrel helm or somthing if you need one.

Take care

That size of helm would never fit in a flat rate box.
I use them all the time and WISH I could fit helms in them!

Thanks for all the response guys!
I have heard back from the seller. And he states he will either have it straightened out, or refunded by Tuesday. If I don't have an answer of the money by tuesday I will contact everyone on here who has contacted me.

So It is now Wednesday.
No money in my Paypal account, and no Tracking number for a helmet.
Luckily if they do not respond to Paypal by next week I get my money back.

I am going to start emailing people later tonight.

If none of your other offers work out let me know, I probably have something I can lend and might have one to part with. It's amazing how much stuff I accumulate.

Will you be at Birka? Good location for an exchange...

If you haven't found anything yet, I wholeheartedly endorse Emorokian Arms. Beau's helms are reasonably priced and solid as all get out. The helms look better than pictured on his website.

Hope that helps.

Those tracking numbers work well most of the time.
I had a package bouncing around for a while due to a typo in the zip code.
Zip code and town where in conflict and it bounces from one sort facility to another.
USPS finally got the package back to me though it took about a month for priority.
