WTB: white latigo leather belt blanks

Post by Wulfgar »

Hi,

I'm after some white latigo belt blanks to make a sword baldric for my knighting. Anyone help out or point me in the right direction?

Need the supplier to be able to ship to Australia.

I saw a side of that once, maybe fifteen years ago. If you find such a thing, please mention who is selling it these days. Like heavy weight patent leather, its gone the way of the Dodo.

Frank at Viking Leather crafts has white belt weight leather that has the color struck all the way through it. It is quite pricey though. He quoted me, IIRC, $40 for a belt blank.

He emailed me very quickly after I made my inquiry. He also posts here on the Archive from time to time and has a stellar reputation for customer service.

Garreth, thanks for the plug, but think you misunderstood on the price of a white belt blank. Even the finished ones aren't $40.

We carry a 12 ounce Latigo white, oversprayed bright white.
We also carry a 12 ounce Bridle leather, with bright white on front and back, natural leather inside.
We also carry an 9-10 ounce Bridle leather, with bright white on front and back, natural leather inside.

For a finished belt, we bevel the edges, and then we take white edge ink and finish out the edges. It is time consuming and messy, but makes a very nice top notch belt. One of the nicest available. We are going to put them on the site soon, but I haven't had time.

For blanks, we just strip out the leather and let you do what you will, with it. The price is $12 per inch width x 72" long. 1" belt blank is $12. 1.5" belt blank is $18. Longer lengths available, but price is adjusted depending on length of course. The sides are approaching $200 each with shipping, and most places don't keep many in stock. Special care has to be taken not to get them dirty, etc., so we do have to charge a little more for them.

I have had folks ask for a finished belt blank. If I finish it out, it is a belt, no longer a blank, but we try to keep the prices down on those as well.

That's the blurb on the white belts. If anyone needs one, just give us a shout. And we do ship worldwide Wulfgar. Give us a shout if we can be of service.

Frank I'll be in touch. I will probably also order a set of viking toggle boots at the same time.
