Polish Hussar Armor, who can make it?

Post by Riejckaert »

Looking for someone to build me a set of body armor and pauldrons/gorget(they link together, gorget needs to be be modified obviously a bit for SCA usage). I figure I already have the boots, cloak and helm, time to commit for armor. Would like it in stainless, brasswork at a minimum, perhaps just as the rivet heads and/or edging on the armpits and gorget. I have plenty of reference pics, including museum stuff of the interior if needed and the musuem stuff is pretty available online as well since it is such late period armor. The pic I have on here is just a basic idea since no two suits looked the same but followed a basic philosophy of function and design(just basic info for anyone not familiar with it).
Since the war season here is about over, having by next September and the start of the new season would be nice, definately before new years. If you PM me with a price, please do the pauldrons/gorget price seperate from the body armor price, the pauldron/ gorget actually have a slightly higher priority, and it is possible I will just get them depending on the price since with a tabard my unit has a hard on for you can only see the arms half the time. Got a re-enlistment bonus but the woman wants hardwood floors so I need to work in that type of budget constraints heheh. Also an idea of the cost on with or without heavy or light brasswork would be nice.

LOL yeah But I figured that would be something relatively easy for me to mount myself on the back plate. The wings will come eventually.

John Perry or Shark Armoury out of Tampa has done Hussar before. He doesn't post on the AA but you can find him through FB. He loves the Hungarian Armour. We spent a few hours looking through the books and he showed me a bunch of patterns he had made.

I'd trust Firedryk or Surly Anvil with a Hussar kit.

Not many people can do it
Donnghal at Aesir has before, but noone has been will to pay for the whole set up (including myself)
just because its segmented doesnt make it easy, plenty of people have tried and failed.
getting the good lines is the hard part, Donnghal can do it and he has the appropriate amount of research on the subject
if you are going to do it, get him and pay him what he is worth

not only do you have to have creative metal working skills but you have to be able to manage the business office side
otherwise you will not make it.
