strapping and padding spaulders

Post by Armourkris »

So, i've got my first set of spaulders, they are ugly as sin, but they work...
anyways, i was wondering 1, how the heck does one pad them effectivley, and 2, what different methods of strapping do you use.
they are a modified version of sinrics off the patern archive, same strap deal across the bottom, and a set of holes in the top.
i've experimented with running a strap around the neck, but found it horibly uncomfertable, and running one under he near, or far armpit, the near armpit is again, not comfey, and on the far there is a tendance to slide around to the back of my arm, thus defeating the purpose really.

what do you recomend?

I generally dont pad my spaulder unless I have an especially deep shoulder cop on it. Then I just glue a small 1" X 2" piece of foam directly on the inside center of the cop. It's enough to minimize any dead on blow to the cop. Or course if you wear a gambeson that will take care of padding and mounting problem. Just lace it with points to a point halfway between you neck and the edge of the shoulde and it should articulate just fine, add a loose strap on the bottom lame and your good to go.

Or you could attach it to the connecting strap for a breast/back, thats the method I use.

Hi go here for a few pics of shoulder points.
they work great for keeping your spaulders in position.
use leather articulation to attatch the spaulders to the straps suspending your harness.
pics here:

if that doesnt work try: http://communities.msn.com/ScaMachineArmorors
and look in the photo albums under archive pics. I think...

why thankye Rainald and Mrks, that does solve both my problems, i found they buzzed when i got hit high on the shoulder, and leapt to the most dificult decision, pad it all, but i think your method will work well, and i didnt even think of attatching the spaulders directly to the rest of my harness,
much to simple, i always leap to the hardest method.
i feel really dense Image after the harnes bit, i lent em to a friend and we did just that, tied em into his shoulder straps. Image

anways, thanks. Image
