Russian helm recommendations?

Post by Voislava Pevtsova »

Hello!

I'm trying to get suited up for heavy combat in the SCA. I've played for several years, and have a (constantly developing) Russian persona, but I'm totally new to fighting. I'm wondering if any of you could point me in the direction of a solid/dependable armorer who can make a helm like this:

Described in more detail here:

As luck would have it, I found an image of this type of helm (scroll down a bit) in another forum after doing a basic google search, but I didn't see its creator named anywhere. I *really* like the looks of it, horsetail and all:

I contacted someone a couple of months ago about making this style, but they haven't returned the last few emails I sent, so I'm moving on. Hopefully, you kind folks can give me a nudge in the right direction. :)

Thanks so much for reading!

+1 for Aesir, he makes the best Russian SCA stuff I've seen.

If you want cheaper Wild Armoury is also quite good.

if i ever buy another Rus helm it will be from Aesir I have seen multiples of his rus helms and they are the best ones out there in my opinion. a bit pricy, but you definitely get what you pay for.

Aesir, I've seen that exact helm a few times. Excellent stuff.

I would definitely recommend Duke Icefalcon. I recently received a helm from His Grace and I did a brief write up of it in this thread. As a fellow Rus, I knew I needed a significantly Russian helm, but I went a slightly different direction than what you're looking for. His Grace's quality is unparalleled, but very pricey.

Buy once, cry once, I always say. Best of luck in your search for a helm!

That's a nice looking helm! Thank you for the suggestion!

I love "Buy once, cry once." I'm *so* going to use that on my husband when I figure out what I want to get. Heh... :D

Try dropping Dave Rylak/Cet a line to see if he's armouring again. He did a good job on my Rus helm based on the one found in Nikolskoye.

I would recommend Dave at Aesir Metalworks. He did mine.

No matter in what armory you will order a helmet. Buy this type of helmet http://www.massruestung.com/product_inf ... lskoe.html
or this type of helmet http://www.massruestung.com/product_inf ... moscu.html
I'll buy the part of the UFO, it can be used or in poor condition. :)
