Sheath for a new blade

Post by Nathan Hartman »

Hi all. I just obtained this new dagger (well, new to me anyway). It's one of the earlier Del Tin, Italian-made Museum Replicas pieces. It might need a bit of cleaning up, but on the whole I'm very pleased as I feel I got a very solid deal on it.

So now I've got this blade, but it has no sheath. Does anyone know of someone who can make a quality, good looking, semi-fancy sheath and belt hanger to fit it? It's something I plan to wear to events, and especially at court.

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip Meinhard.

I think we're good on the scabbard front. Now the only thing I'm looking for is hardware. Does anyone have any good sources for scabbard chapes? I don't want anything too fancy, just a simple polished silver-colored metal chape (thinking stainless or nickel silver) would make me happy.

Yeah I looked at them. They've got some REALLY nice looking stuff. Their "Sword Scabbard Chape" is close to what I'm looking for, but I don't really care for the brass look, and I don't think it's designed for a dagger-sized scabbard...

Sounds like the guy making the scabbard for me is going to make the hardware too :)

Is Cian hookin' you up? :)

Thanks for the plug, Micah. I just remembered that Cian of Storvick has done some of these before, so I referred Rahl that way...

Yup! That's the plan. Thanks for pointing me in his direction. I found a period scabbard on an effigy that Cian's going to use as inspiration. Can't wait to see what he comes up with :)

By the way, I haven't given up on buying one of those leather maps from you. It might not be this week, or even this month, but I'll get one eventually... :D
