Leather for Sale

Post by VikingLeather »

Okay, I am going to pick up another truckload of leather this coming weekend and will be looking to unload some of it if there is an interest. I will be having a couple hundred large cowhide bellies, thick armor grade 13-18 ounce as well as a couple hundred single shoulders of which I will be selling some.

I will be stripping out straps and adding them as an option to the site. Question. Should I finish the strips, beveling the finishing the edges and top or just sell the strips and let the buyer do what they will with them. The later option would be cheaper of course. I will be selling them fairly cheap.

I need some help in deciding lengths of strips to offer. What would be the most used? 24" to 30" in 5/8, 3/4, and 1" strips?

Bellies will be $18 plus shipping
Single Shoulders will be $25 plus shipping. Shoulders will range from 4-6 square feet and be several weights, I will offer them up when I have them sorted out. I just don't have a place to put them all, but have to purchase quantity to get them.

Thanks folks.

I have the stuff to finish my own edges so raw straps would be my preference. What are the chances you'd have project pieces available for purchase? Maybe kits of some kind or certain pieces for specific projects. I stumbled upon this scabbard pattern and I'd be very interested in buying say, a strip of sufficient length/width/weight and not as eager to buy a whole cow from Tandy.

I will try to post some pics of the pieces to give you and idea of the sizes. Colors will be black, dark brown, medium brown, sunset brown (reddish), natural and some chestnut. Most are bridle leather, thicker leather is a harness leather, which is 13-18 ounce, the most are a 10 ounce and 12 ounce leather.

Sizes of the bellies will be around 5-6 square feet, of course they are odd shaped, but you can get some long straps from them in the 48-54" range. The single shoulders are anywhere from 5-8 square feet of good leather. An occasional hole or brand to cut around.

Pitbull, these are what I make my cuisse belts from usually and cut up for spaulder pieces and arms, etc.

I am worried a bit about the weight, as these tend to be a bit heavy.

As far as project pieces, I wouldn't mind selling them, as I have in the past for folks that ask. I am quite stocked with leather but can't say no to my supplier, as they might pass me up next time if I don't get it now.

Dependent upon shipping costs, I'm interested in at least one shoulder and one belly, both sunset brown, when you get your shipment in.

Glad this came up, I've been looking around Tandy a bit but haven't ordered. I'd be in for some straps, as I have some I need to replace. Finished or unfinished is fine. Black preferably, dark brown otherwise. A dozen straps, I guess? I think I only need 8 but some spares is always good.

Could I get it within the next 10 days? I'd like to replace the straps next weekend.

If any of those bellies are more than 60 inches long and around 8 oz thickness I'd be interested in at least one, maybe more, for making belts.

Frank,
PM me when you get the shoulders sorted out. Or if you know the weights already, I'd like two at an armour weight and one belly around 8 oz for straps. Brown is best, black is ok if that's all that you have. PM me with the prices and such.

Thanks!

Sorting through and trying to take some pics to give you an idea of what they look like. Colors will be black, dark brown and sunset brown (reddish tint) on the shoulders and Black, dark brown, sunset on the bellies. Different weights. Once I sort through some of it, I will ask you to send notes with your preference of weights and I will check on shipping prices for you.

Okay, bellies are going to weigh in at 4-5 lbs each depending on thickness of course
Shoulders will weigh in from 4-6 lbs again dependent on thickness.

A 15-17 ounce harness shoulder will weigh 6 lbs
A 10-12 ounce Shoulder will weigh around 4.5-5 lbs.

A 13-15 ounce Belly will weigh around 5 lbs
A 10-12 ounce belly will weigh around 4 lbs.

All weights are approximate of course. With this in mind, Shipping is going to look like:

A package going near me, say Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, NC, SC, FL, VA, for a 12 lb package, shipping will be around $17-18 standard post USPS For UPS, $20
A package going to NY, PA, etc would run around $20 for a 12 lb package USPS For UPS $18
Going to Oregon, CA, WA, etc for a 12 lb package would be $28.00 USPS For UPS, $26
Going to Ohio, IN, etc for the 12 lb package would be around $20 USPS For UPS, around $18

So this will give you an idea of the costs. Some will be more, some less. Now you decide on the color and leather weight, 9-10, 10-12, Heavy 13-17

Some of the shoulders and bellies will fall off from one side to the next. I have the posts from folks above this that were interested, now with the postage, are you still interested? If so, send me an email to sales@vikingleathercrafts.com with your shipping information, your choice of color and thickness and either shoulders or bellies. Also send your paypal email addy and I will send an invoice. Apologies for the shipping costs, so to off set them, Bellies will cost you $18 for 1, $45 for 3 Shoulders will be $25 for 1, $60 for 3

I have 5 sides of rawhide, but still haven't stripped it up yet. Will be offering it soon.

Sure James, tell me what you need and I can get them for you. I can strip them from one of the shoulders if you want and send the rest to you, or just strip up the entire shoulder. What sort, size, length are you needing?
