BIG CUIRASS --buckles, hinges etc REDUCED for quick sale

Post by PartsAndTechnical »

Made for myself. I added a correct fauld (work in progress) that I was never able to finish. Has great straps and *hand made* hinges, buckles etc. Good rolls on arms and neck. Actually the neck has an inverted and curved roll/fold if you look carefully. Its a welded job...an experiment from a few years ago that worked well so I shrugged and figured Id keep working.

Options:

You could trip the bottom and refit the fauld since the plates are shaped but not attached.
Often cuirasses can be pinched in a bit reducing size to something youre after or opened a bit.

I put a good deal of work into it. Cuirass with hinges, buckles and straps is 325. With fauld (seriously, a lot of work shaping those plates to make them flush so Im taking a loss selling as-is...., I will make an offer for 385 whole enchilada. I lost 30 lbs of weight, and while I have a lot of work to do on the new one, Id rather see this one go to a good home.

Exactly what size chest/torso would this fit? What are the measurements? And I assume it's mild steel from the rust on the fauld, correct? What gauge is it? 16, 18?

Thanks!

Mild yes. 14 ga. carefully brought in and welded at bottom to preserve as much thickness as possible. I have no issue buffing this up to a satin "clean" before it goes out. Remember the fauld is not fully attached. I had to abandon once I lost weight....no point in finishing so it made sense to offer here.

These measurements are straight lines as they are truer to knowing a real fit:

*From the lowest part of the neckscoop in a straight line down to hip waistline, we have about 15.5"

Looking into the back of the breastplate, the side-to-side opening as the armholes narrow inward (basically chest area) is 12"
Looking into the back of the breastplate, the side-to-side opening just under armpit (top of the sides) is 17"
".....................................................................................................................(bottom of the sides/ waist) is 14.5"

*Sides are about 7" high

*The breastplate from edge to edge, around its peak is 26

The * are ares that could be trimmed down without removing the nice arm roles. I suspect it could be pushed inward an inch or two more also, or opened.

If these are confusing lmk I will try to clarify.
