Heat Treated 4130 Spaulder Kits *SOLD*

Post by Craig Nadler »

Would anyone be interested in heat treated 0.032"/22ga. or 0.040"/19ga. 4130 spaulder kits. These would be unfinished pieces that are just shaped and heat treated. I'll include leather straps, buckles, rivets, and brass strips to cut up into washers.

This photo is just to show the style of spaulders, they will NOT be finished pieces as in the photo, and brass trim pieces are $15 extra if you want them.

This is what raw heat treated pieces looks like:

Would a basic 60 grit Formax finish for $95 a set be more interesting to people?

I'm going to assume that people want 0.032"/22ga. plate sets if you don't say differently.

delder:

Go ahead and Paypal me the money. I'll make all the plate sets as a batch in a couple of days.

I have two 0.032" 4130 spaulder plate sets done. They have been heat treated to 1600F then water quenched and tempered to 500F for 30 minutes. If you want them as raw unfinished plates in a kit (without brass trim) then the price is $75 per kit.

I'll also have a 17-7ph stainless steel spaulder plate set done in a day or two. They will be heat treated to a TH1050 condition. If you want them as raw unfinished plates in a kit (without brass trim) then the price is $125 per kit.

Extras:
+$15 for brass trim pieces
+$15 for a 60 grid formax finish
+$30 for a blackened finish (60 grid formax finish then blackened)
+$95 for a high polish

I have one 0.035" 17-7ph stainless steel spaulder kit for $95 + shipping. Please note that this specific kit was made by someone else as a test piece for them to try out working the material. I heat treated the pieces and put a brush finish on them. The finish still has a few tool marks and is not suitable for farther polishing. All spaulder kits include leather straps, buckles, rivets, and brass strips to cut up into washers.

*SOLD*

I still have one blackened 0.032" 4130 spaulder kit for sale. The price has been reduced to $75 + shipping. Please note that this is a closeout sale, so I will not be making any more 4130 kits. The plates have been heat treated to a Rc48 hardness and should resist denting as well as 13ga./0.090" mild steel. Spaulder kits include leather straps, buckles, rivets, and brass strips to cut up into washers.
