Hardened leather Spangenhelm

This is the second of this style of helm that I have been making and I am still working the kinks out of the pattern. This is not meant for any kind of combat, it is meant for wearing as garb, or other occasions you would like to wear it like Invocation at a tourney, or to wear in armor when not using your full combat helm. the quarter plates are made from 2 layers of vegetable tan leather sewn together then hardened. The cross bands are 16 gauge mild steel with it all held together with brass rivets. It is 28 1/2 inches around at the band. I have a 23 inch head and wear mine with a padded coif and a full mail coif. So there is room for padding of some kind. You can see from pics that there is some rivit issues inside due to quarter plate size problems still being worked out. But as I said still perfectly wearable in a non-combat role.
