Not sure what break the bank means for you, but this would seem to fit the bill:

Alternately, you could start with a basic spangenhelm (conical if you can find it) and add a neck drape.

That would totally work with a drape! Or even a plate folds down the back or lamellar, either steel or leather. Your work is excellent, sir!

Accdntprone, how much would you want for a helm like that? I have price quotes from everyone else.

Alright, thanks all. I've forwarded all the info to the guy, see what he says. This was a lot less painful than looking for a Japanese helm. :)

Yeah, I have got to find a pattern I like for those, they cost a LOT!
