WTB: Cheap Gauntlets,Used or New

Post by El Cap »

Like the title says im looking for gauntlets that are new or used. They're for my first kit and if you have more than one pair i know a couple other people who are looking for gauntlets. I really cant afford anything above $200 right now, for gauntlets below that seems impossible besides one pair i found, but id like them to be hourglass style I would be happy with mitten if that's all i can get though. I just don't want to risk my hands anymore almost broke a finger earlier today. I have an average sized hand and im building a late 14th century style kit. If anyone wants to try and make a pair for cheap im down for that too. In advance thank you all.

Polarbear Forge sells a mitten gauntlet kit that is a lot of hand protection for the money. Even if you aren't comfortable assembling them, someone near you may be able to. Worth a look IMHO.

I went to check it out but cant find anything about them on his site other than it saying "gauntlet kits new." But heck if its worth the price ill look into it more.

Edit: Found it through a link on the home page. How hard are these to assemble for someone like me who has next to zero experience with shaping armour?

If you have a 16 oz ball pien and a stump and something anvil-ish to set rivets on you can put these together with patience. Like I said if you don't fell comfortable I'm sure someone near you might even be willing to teach you. All of the holes are where they need to be save for those that locate the thumbs. The trickiest part is the thumb tips. Having a small anvil shaped object like the one I have makes this part easier. The ones I made were 18 gauge stainless if that makes any difference.

Contact Andy Ward http://wardmetal.com/index.html or AndrewWard here on the Archive.

I believe he is in the process of moving, but his gaunts are bombproof and within your price range. And Yes, I have a pair and are happy with them.

Second on Bokalo. I've had a pair of his cat's ass (a little out of your price range) for about 5 years now, I don't think I'll ever change them.

I don't have personal experience with the Andy Wards, but have heard good things, and may pick up a set as loaners for my barony.
