Dabling in Devil Ore - Stainless 2 panel spangen FS

Yea, and verily, did I wrassle me with some thrice damned 304.





And it turned out ok.
Started with 304 stainless steel, 0.090" or about 13 gauge.
Grill is mild steel. Primered and painted.
All rivets are stainless (and boy howdy was they a durn treat to peen over!)

It's very damned sturdy. If they don't bury you in this helmet, it's because your grandkids stole it.

Measures at the brow line from the inside about:
27.25" circ.
9.75" front to back.
7.5" side to side.

He is kinda long and skinny.
Fit's on my 24" rock bin with 1 layer blue camp pad, with a little bit of wobble and bobble.
Could go up to that, given a long skinny head.
I would say optimal for 23.5" head though.

I can't promise that, or even pretend to it. I've got some issues to work out with the devil ore in general before I do much more. Also... I'm personally not of the opinion that there's anything simple on a Sallet.

I love this helm it is well worth $600 but the average peasant does not have $600 that is why matt also sells reasonable armor for us cheap peons thank you matt

Well, maybe "simple" as in "you simply have to have 150 hours or so of raising experience, and then you can simply hit it the bare minimum number of times to make it a sallet".
But even if it only takes 6 hours to make that hat, you're still amortizing a bunch of hammers and stakes and torches and grinding equipment, so the price goes way north of $600.
