I have seen experiments with coating in glue. It was in French and I used google translate to read it, basically brushed liquified fish glue onto the leather.

I have recently read on one of the holster making boards that some high end western holster makers dissolve Elmers wood glue in warm water and then use that to case and fit their holsters. Apparently it gives the leather a nice stiff and duriable shape.

James,

I saw the site where the guy was making etuis with dilute gelatine. http://astelier-medieval-du-cuir.over-b ... 21258.html Is that the one you mean, or is there another?

Nice looking sheath for that rondell dagger, by the way. Perhaps you have seen the one I made for Galleron a few years back.... Your decoration is much better than mine.

Oh that's nice James. Is that a black dye, or did you use an iron blackening agent or some such?

Very nice!

Would it be possible to see a pic of the dagger itself next to the sheath?

I hadn't checked this thread in a bit. To echo everyone else, that's quite impressive James. Good work.
