I realized that it's been over a year since i posted, between moving, a new job and other "life" related issues I haven't had much of a chance to play with metal or post on the archive. The fact tha I'm in a city with one of the most significant armour collections in Western North America and have visited it once with the kids (spending all of about 15 minutes in the armour section) probably says something about my last year.
So some brief updates:
I'm now in Calgary, and have a minimal shop set up. If you want to play and are local drop me a line.
Scottmartin.com suffered an (irretrevable) error, I have migrated the site contents to Scottmartin.ca, and should have the gauntlet tutorial up in the next week or two, along with the Ausberg gorget
I have had a chance to drop by and visit with Peter Fuller (http://www.medievalrepro.com/) who has graciously allowed me to play in his shop. Like many of the good armourers I have met he is enthusiastic about sharing his techniques, and i expect that I wil learn a lot, since our technique sets are quite different. He likes 14th century kit, but I'm trying to convince him to post the construction pictures of the Clifford armour - it's got a beautiful shape which is hard to see past all of the gilding and blueing.
Hope to catch up soon, and possibly even make it out to Wade's annual "armour study session" in March. I have a couple of projects on the go now (started a couple of weeks ago with finding space in the garage) so these may get posted in the not-too-distant future.
Welcome back! Fully understand the predicament; had some similar changes too. It's hard to carve the time out after you've been away from it for a while. Look forward to seeing the progress on the projects!
