Good Source for Ceramic Fiber Insulating Blanket Kiln/Forge?

Hey guys !

Does anyone know of a good source for Ceramic Fiber Insulating Blankets for a Kiln or Forge? ie Cerawool or something similar?

I'm most likely looking for 2" thick 8 lb, 2300 F, 2' wide material, and I will need something in the 10-12 foot range total, doesn't have to be continuous.

I would also probably need some 0.5" or 1" to build a door seal for the lid as well.

I'd like to keep shipping down, so if prices were even, I'd prefer an Eastern US distributor. But total cost is most important.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Try pottery supply shops or glass supply shops.
You may endup going with mail order.
Arrow springs offers it by the foot or by the roll.
Applying a ridgedizer will help it last a bit longer.

In the past I have been able to order through universities that have ceramics engineering or studio ceramics.

I had the same problem. They looked at me like I had three heads... Anvilfire was the best price I found with small quantities. They sell the ceramic coatings as well. Be prepared for sticker shock on that!

Johann, yes in my area, industrial shops aren't willing to even waste their time talking to you. And if you want to order something or have some work done, it better be in the thousands of dollars or tens of thousands.

There are lots of pottery type places that sell it online, I was just hoping to find one that was a little cheaper. I guess Anvil Fire may be it.

I'm looking to make my Paragon kiln more efficient during heat up (ie faster), and to retain the heat better during the heat treating process.
