Strange anvil

Post by Calebstutesman »

I am willing to sell or trade this anvil, I don't know a price on it as it is a very unique anvil from what i can tell.

I also would like to know what it was used for if anyone has that information. it looks like it attaches to a pipe or something. Not sure!

If you are interested though, please post things you are willing to trade, or throw a price at me and we may have a deal!

looks like one off a portable farrier rig, or for the back of a service truck.. (even some of the line trucks around here still have anvils bolted to the back deck). Probably to do double duty. It's not like they are forging on em..

Could also be part a vise or something job specific. Certainly made to clamp to a certain diameter bar/tube.

I have never seen a vice anvil with a tube like that through it. A thread, yes. Even a set in small piece of threaded pipe. But a hole like that? Nope.

Also.. see how there's no relief on the back side? Another thing you usually find on vices..

Some of the older vices like Johann Coldiron posted have collars that are threaded and held in place with a bolt.

So what are such prodigies called in the trade? For that matter, which trade?? You gonna have to wander over to Anvilfire to ask?
