Does anyone have any other pics or info on this piece?
New gauntlets are the next item on my list and while digging through my pictures I found this one. no idea where i saved it from or anything, but the finger gauntlet/bazuband hybrid fascinates me, and since i wear bazubands it seems like it may be something worth looking into. So, does any body have any further information on it?

Tineye pulled up nothing. Hopefully someone will recognize it and chime in.

Don't know where it's from. Sexy as hell though. Late Russian perhaps?

It's at the Metropolitan in NYC, European, 17th c. IIRC, don't remember the country of origin. Try on their website.

You'll find examples of 1 piece gauntlet/vambrace designs in the 16thC, but as bazuband gauntlets, as James notes, it is more common in the 17thC, especially for things like ECW, but I expect they originate in the Near East, like Turkey.

I think these are also called "elbow gauntlets." Here's a German pair of 16th-century elbow gauntlets on Wade Allen's site: http://www.allenantiques.com/A-45.html
