My new helmet

Post by Armourkris »

I've been working on this off and on for a couple weeks and I just finished it up last night.
It's 14ga. throughout, So hopefully I'm thinking i should be able to fight most formats in it.
The skull definitely gave me some grief. I made it from 10 panels and getting the last one to overlap the first one took far to much sweat and swearing.
I blackened the lower plate and the perf plate with burnt on linseed oil, In my experience it's tougher than paint and will keep things discreet under the maille drape when I get one on there. In the mean time I threw together the drape and torse from an old t-shirt, That actually worked better than was expecting.

Nice! You don't see enough turban helms.

Yeah, i don't think I've ever seen another one in person. This one should match my maille and plates better than my last one though, also it'll work a lot better than the last one with a chin strap.

That came out sharp! Did you use a pattern or make this from scratch?

I didn't have any pre-made pattern if that's what you mean Sevastian, I just started with some cardboard and steel and made up my patterns as I needed them.
